I'm the lead developer of Age of Mythology:Extended Edition on Steam.
Some people have struggled to install the Visual Studio 2015 Redistributables packages.
Steam attempts to install them, but a small percentage of people fail to install it. These redistributables are shared libraries that each C++ program requires to run. Things like file management, string manipulation. Nearly everything you can think of requires a dll.
Windows installs them centrally to save space, but they can be installed in an embedded way too. I don't recommend this other than a workaround.
The best thing to do is make sure you have the latest service packs, and all the Windows Updates, then install the redistributables properly.
To install, read the attached _readme.txt file contained within zip file (basically, extract all the dll files into the root directory where Myth is installed.)
Also note, because my zip file contains a ton of dll files, it's going to make your internet browser freak out when you try to download these. You'll have to bypass the warnings.
In Chrome:
The screen will go red when you download with this general text:
The site ahead contains harmful programs
Attackers on files.heavengames.com might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience (for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit).
Automatically report details of possible security incidents to Google. Privacy policy
At the bottom... click "Details", then you'll see this:
Google Safe Browsing recently found harmful programs on files.heavengames.com.
If you understand the risks to your security, you may visit this site before the harmful programs have been removed.
Click on the "visit this site" and you'll download the zip file containing all the dlls. Not sure what the experience will be in other browsers.

please post the API-MS-WIN-CORE-LIBRARYLOADER-L1-2-0.DLL file. After I put your files in the AoM:EE root folder, it says "API-MS-WIN-CORE-LIBRARYLOADER-L1-2-0.DLL" is missing.
