SHIPWRECKED
by Matei of Woad Creations
OVERVIEW:
Being shipwrecked on a desert island would not have been half as bad if those Norse, Greeks and Egyptians hadn't all landed on the same island! It's almost as if the gods wanted a little laugh in setting you all here, but like it or not you'll have to fight before you get out of this situation. Now you must choose between fighting for the scarce resources here or getting back to land and rebuilding there. The inland sea you're on contains reasonable amounts of fish, but you'll have to search on the land surrounding it for good sources of wood and gold.
In this "reverse Migration" map based on Ensemble Studios' Shipwrecked RMS for Age of Kings: The Conquerors, players start with one town center tightly clumped on a central desert island, on an inland Mediterranean-style sea with rich land around it. There are also 3 random environments, Mediterranean (temperate), Red Sea (desert) and Norwegian Sea (snowy), with lots of eyecandy. Players each recieve a transport ship to make getting to land easier, but no starting towers. Resources on the island are scarce, and you might soon find yourself walling the enemy's gold mine or stealing their goats to survive. When the game gets to Classical, expect total chaos with soldiers, villagers, and buildings all over the place. Resources on land come in slightly randomized amounts to make for different strategies, but all the extra TC's and a lot of gold and wood will be on there, along with most of the map's relics. Control of the water is important but there is enough food off the island to keep you going without fish if you want. Many possible strategies exist, and playing the map in teams is even more fun.
INSTALLATION:
- Move the files Shipwrecked.xml and Shipwrecked.xs to your Age of Mythologyrm folder
- If Age of Mythology is open, close and re-open it for it to see the new files.
HOW TO HOST A GAME:
- Shipwrecked should be played mutiplayer with human players, as computer players don't know how to colonize the mainland
- Host a game using ESO Advanced Setup or LAN/DirectIP
- Select Supremacy, Lightning, Death Match or Conquest under Game Type
- Click Select Map and choose Shipwrecked from the list
TO OTHER SCRIPTERS:
- You are free to use this script or parts of it in your own work, but PLEASE GIVE CREDIT TO THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR (MATEI) if you do so! Use a script comment and/or an in-game text message.
- If you want to edit the map, PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE. Copy the file and rename it, so that there aren't any version conflicts with people who don't have your edited version.
