Version: AoM: The Titans
In 2011, The Elva_Rokk posted Version 1 of this neat-sounding cinematic scenario for AOM: The Titans. He wrote:


The title, Armageddon originates from a friend of mine, but this a three minute cinematic of chaos unfolding, a sky darkening, men clashing, the sky falling. This surely is the end of the world...

Unfortunately, the music did not work in Version 1, maybe because he checkmarked the trigger for the cinematic to begin "immediately" and he set the music to play using "music filename". In Version 2, I fixed the music so that it plays, and I notice that the music improves the ambiance of the scenario.

I don't know how to use the original Designer's texture file to make the sky turn Orange. Putting it in the textures folder like his instructions said was not enough. But actually without the orange sky color, the sky in this cinematic is black, which still goes well with the general concept for the scenario.

Installation Instructions

Paste the "Halo Cinematic, Version 2.scx" file into your computer's "Age of Mythology\scenario" folder.

Paste the "Halo(Orchestral_Halo_Theme).MP3" file into your "Age of Mythology\sound\custom sounds" folder. In case you do not have a "sound\custom sounds" folder, then Create a folder by that name in the AOM sound folder first in order to paste the .MP3 file in the custom sounds folder.

You don't have to use the enclosed "AOME_LTA_Textures_Patch.bar" and "skies.xml" files for anything unless you want to play around with trying to get the orange sky to work.


Note on the Orange Sky Texture:

The Designer intended the Sky to turn Orange and for you to paste the "AOME_LTA_Textures_Patch.bar" file into your computer's "Age of Mythology\textures" folder.

To make the Orange sky to work, you would also have to paste the "skies.xml" file that has a line saying "SkyOrange" into your "Age of Mythology\data folder." I made this "skies.xml" file when trying to make the orange sky effect work because I saw that he included a "Render Sky" effect for Trigger #329 that said to use "SkyOrange".

Further, it seems that the original Designer should have included SkyOrange texture data (maybe like a "SkyOrange.ddt" file packed in his .bar textures file) to go right into your "Age of Mythology\textures" folder, but he didn't include it in his .bar textures folder.

The end result of trying to figure out the sky color problem is that the sky still stays black and doesn't turn Orange as intended. But I am including the original .bar texture file, as well as the skies.xml file that I modded to try to make it work in case someone wants to work on the problem more.
