Playability: 3
Playability was okay, but not what is to be expected from hype. Battles are bland, with little to no strategy involved. More of a clash of two opponents head on. Let the archers fire where they please, soldiers run wherever, and you'll probably win. The arcades were nothing special, in fact, the first arcade was very odd and not enjoyable at all. The second was decent, however, powers could be saved and used later on, which made this a bit more easy than prefered. The arena was horribly easy, and took no skill at all. Overall, the playability was average, but nothing respectably ground breaking.

Balance: 2
The balance in some areas was good, however, in more areas than not, it was very easy. God powers were given too frequently. The myth units, which seemed to me were supposed to be the "tough" spots, were the most easy, because of the hero bonus versus myth units. Balance was easy, bottom line, and at no point was I on the edge of my seat.

While the delivery of the ideas in this scenario lacked, the author did not just think this scenario up in one night. Arcade style gameplay was a genuine idea. The author tried some new things, and so he should be credited for that.

Map Design: 2
The Map:
The map had some good spots, and I was very pleased with the ambience level; just enough. The elevation, however, was astoundingly horrible. At no point did I see any hint of the use of the smooth tool. The arena building was clever and well made, with the audience and so forth. Outside of the arena, there was no elevation, and topped with one terrain style, it looked very bad. The country side terain mixing was nominal, but the elevation is what killed this rating. I can't see how anyone could drive a cart on those roads. When the roads weren't jagged, they had no life at all, and one was even straight for about a mile. I will give the author credit for a trace of unit movement, instead of everyone standing still. He made the donkey carts move if you spotted them, however, those were the only units. I did not care for how areas remained visible after they were no longer needed, a la the beginning battle scene. I am sorry to say, the map would have been much better had the elevation been up to par.

The Cinematics:
The cinematics had good camera angles, and I was generally pleased with them. The text stayed on track and was easy to read.

Story/Instructions: 3
The storyline was alright, and had a twist that had a very nice impression on me. The comments made by some of the people, however, were very out of place and uneeded, which includes multiple references to visit the website of Blackstorm. Some of the grammer, such as one man saying, "Leave me alone plz," was out of context. This was very unattractive and killed any mood the author was shooting for. The ending to the story was abrupt, and could have faded out more, instead of just a "BAM! Wait for Spartan 2!" A more gradual ending would have fit a lot better.

Additional Comments:
The music skipped horribly during the arena fight. Visibility should have been on during cinematics. Day and night cycles faded in way too fast. After the 1st arcade, the activity in the area ceased. Music fit the mood in most areas.

+ Pros:
Great ambience usage.
Good ideas (i.e. Arcades, etc.)

Cons:
Very easy.
Idea delivery lacked (arcades not very fun).
People comments are very out of place.
Bland battles.
Elevation is apalling.

I would not reccomend a download, and it is a shame all of the author's hard work went to waste.
KH_zlng Pretty weak, all you do is follow a path, fight, watch a cine, follow a path, fight, watch a cine, over and OVER again.

I found, as my comment says, that there was much repetativity (if that's a word). The battles were boring, and sometimes you find yourself just sitting and waiting, because you don't have to do anything during them. I found the abrupt stops for cinematics were frustrating. The arcades were kind of boring... but a good idea.

Balance: 2
As far as balance goes, i feel that it was OK, except for the giving of all those god powers. It made the battles onesided and almost impossible to lose, even against other heroes and ambushes.

Creativity: 4
I feel that Guardian spent a good deal of time thinking on this scenario. The arcades were genious, and making units talk was a nice touch too. But at the times that certain ideas were told to you, sometimes they didn't fit in.

Map Design: 2
I found some of the map to be wasted space, and others too cramed in. The city of Sparta was reduced to a strip of land almost. I do feel that the forests and water were used efficiently though.

You have GOT to learn how to even out the terrain! It felt like my units were on a roller coaster or somthing. I'm surprised they didn't fall over.

As far as cinematics go, i found the angles to be creative, in the part that they move, but the constant rotation of the camera made you dizzy and made the objects blurry so that you couldn't get a good look at what you were seeing. Also, one or two of the cinematics started with blackness up until your units got there.

Story/Instructions: 3
Some of the instructions were too laid out, not giving you enough space to do your own things, you are just following a path, doing what it says to do.

The story was a pretty good invention of thinking, and it had a good surprise.

Additional Comments:
Not really worth your time... I hope that you will fix some of these errors in time for Spartan 2

Byzantine_Warrior Z, please remove the comment in the story review aspect about the twists in the plot. It gives away a plot turn in the story.

I was almost falling asleep at the start. It was a good introduction, except, the messagers were a little bit too long. You had about half a minute to read each sentence. Eventually, the game fights and actions got repetitive.

Balance: 3
The balance was thought to be decent at the start, but eventually turned way too easy midway through the scenario.

Creativity: 4
Good attempt at a story. Lacking few main elements.

Map Design: 2
Good use of mountains, but lacking eyecandy. Some items look more developed then others. Looks rushed at parts.

Story/Instructions: 4
Good story, but lacking the internal structure to make it successful.

Additional Comments:
Good start in my opinion, but it lacks a few elements to make me personally recommend it.

To Creator(s): Keep up the good work, but learn to fill the gaps. Learn from your mistakes and Im sure we'll see great work from you in the future.

Might as well add my input

Playability: 3
It started off good, there was some strategy for the player to use with an archer hero and a melee hero. Later on the different styles of gameplay were also interesting though poorly conducted. overLooping the music in the "arena" was also horrible. I turned off my speakers it was that bad.

Balance: 2
People don't want to be fighting a nidhog for 5 minutes straight. Also the "bandits" along the road really should have some more meaning to them other than just units to slow your progress

Creativity: 4
You had some good ideas and some generally interesting components to the scenario. Nothing groundbreaking though an I guess it fallowed a general scenario RPG configuration, where you move about, fight things, visit places and then move about some more.

Map Design: 3
You overdid it with the roughen tool, it had some nice terrain variation, but nothing amazing. Oh, and I liked the flowers on buildings. :)

Story/Instructions: 2
There isn't much of a solid story to fallow. Semiinteresting introduction, but other then that there is no solid story or general meaning to the scenario. You just go about and fight things in a path, with variations of what you fight and how you do it.

Additional Comments:
Actually, this is the first solid campaign for AOM that plays longer than 10 minutes. It had alot of interesting things and some good triggerwork, however I guess that working on this scenario for just a month would leave room for improovement, especially with how long AOM Scenarios take to make. I think if you just spent a little more time polishing things it would be much better, and don't overdo yourself with useless features, like I didn't even bother searching for any 'secrets'. If theres gonna be secrets then make them somewhat obvious to find, like someone in a town could tell you a "rumor" about it and you can go see if it's true.

carnkhan4 when i heard the pre release hype in the forums i thought hey that'll be great, then i played it. It was ok the soldiers are great as you leave the city, but why did you have to play serval sound files at once? and your map was a little lacking in eye candy, but not much
Gaurdian_112 Memories:)
GOTU_yybb Nice battle!!
