No real replay value, but a nice basic map. I was a little disappointed by the straight forward nature of the scenario, since it didn't require much strategy or forethought. More or less a scenario 'by the numbers', which isn't much fun, at least to me. :P
Balance - 2
Again, a gave a 2 here because there wasn't a whole lot of challenge to the scenario. Since you had to wait until the third age to get -at- the hydra, it wasn't hard to have my own manticore army ready. There were no real controls on the player's expansion since the only limited resource was the gold, and once the market was available, gold was no longer a problem. Perhaps a few random invasions by the manticores, or other distractions might level it out.
Creativity ('Nifty' Value)- 2
This is a very basic 'Kill Monster X' scenario, but I think the visit from Athena and the other trigger effects moved my score from a 1 to a 2.
Map Design - 3
As a nitpick, you need to put in a Camera Start object so that the player doesn't have to move the map around on starting. Other than that, a very nice little village, but you might want to put in a little more variation in terrain. The mountains around the Hydra are also very nice, and I liked the scattered dead bodies at it's feet! *g* But the forests look very blocky, and you need to throw in some predators. Too many Elk about, and nothing prowling around to keep the population down...
Story / Instructions - 3
Pretty average on the whole, this was a nice easy to understand scenario. Which is a welcome relief after an afternoon of reviews! *g* No real story line, but at least the objectives where crystal clear. The hints were also useful, while not being necessary for those of us who like to avoid them. (Hints? Me? Pshaw! ^_~)
Just my 2cents as always. - Khriskin
