AoM: The Titans |
Maze RPG 7.3
by M0nTy_PyTh0n
News:
A preview of the intro movie of this map is now available at YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPWOx7EXPhs
Gameplay features:
All get the same starting units and Godpowers.
Playable in single and multiplayer mode.
Introduction movie at start.
4 different terrain skins (Greek, Egypt, Norse and Hades) and always random maze paths!
Theoretically unlimited upgrades.
Difficulty adjustable in many ways.
How to play:
Each player starts with 3 heroes!
The main objective is to defeat the computer player by solving 4 quests in time! I won't explain all details here, it's all explained in the map! Your heroes upgrade in attack, armor and hitpoints by defeating anything of the enemy (computer).
5 kill = 1 Level (food shows you your level)
Every Level = +1 attack to all heroes
Every 5th Level = +5% shield to all heroes
Every 50th Level = +50 attack to all heroes
Every razing = +1 shockwave god power (wood shows you your razing[building destruction] amount)
Every 5th razing = +1 implode god power
Every titan kill = +25% HP and +2MythDamageAttack to all heroes and players (gold shows you your titan kill amount)
At level 15 = Kastor upgrade to Kastor Adult
Godpowers:
5x Shockwave (+1 for every razing!)
5x Lures = Towers (they upgrade like your heroes!)
2x Healing Spring
1x Lightning (+1 Lure GP = Tower for every 5th razing!)
Player Number sensitive changes:
2 Players: Single player mode adds +4 Myth Attack to all allied heroes!
3 Players: 2 vs 1 mode adds +3 Myth Attack to all allied heroes!
4 Players: 3 vs 1 mode adds +2 Myth Attack to all allied heroes!
5 Players: 4 vs 1 mode adds +1 Myth Attack to all allied heroes!
6+ Players: no special addings!
How to host:
Any settings are possible, but last player is always computer with separate team!
Example Singleplayer: 2 players - team order: 1 - 2 and player 2 (team 2) is computer.
Example Multiplayer: 7 players - team order: 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 2 and player 7 (team 2) is computer.
If you play this with more than 5 players I strongly recommend to play it with 56k modem or better AND Pentium4(1.7GHz+) or AthlonXP(1700+) - else an "Out Of Sync" error can occur on ESO! Playing with LAN is no problem at all!
How to change difficulty levels:
This map is not easy in your first try!
Easiest difficulty is map size normal, defensive computerAI, easy mode and conquest!
Hardest difficulty is map size large, aggressive computerAI, titan mode and lightning!
Changing map to large will increase the enemy number by 100% , so take care!
Anyway, the amount of enemies is always proportional to the human player number!
There are 100 armies in the map which consist of 2 times the human player number,
for map = large it consist of 4 times the human player number!
Example: Normal map: 7 player host = 6 humans + 1 comp : enemy amount is 100*2*6 = 1200
Example: Large map: 7 player host = 6 humans + 1 comp : enemy amount is 100*4*6 = 2400 !!!
Game hints:
Stay and attack together with your allies. If you get into trouble build a defensive base with your towers (place them onto cliffs!). Be careful when you explore unexplored parts of the map: Every 30 meters you will meet an enemy army. All armies consist of wolf units which will convert to a random type of units, if you get closer than 18 meters to them. So, if you explore and find enemies, better attack them first, or the enemies will regroup (by the comp AI) and might attack you later in MUCH bigger formation!
And last but not least: Read all messages during the game, especially the green typed chat messages and the message boxes! It will help you very much to make you an expert in this map!
I personally recommend to play this map online at ESO with 5v1 or 6v1 players!
Enjoy!

it's a great multiplayer script but I just can't seem to see how you can win in single player--4 titans against 3 heroes only in 10 minutes isn't really possible.
Much improved however in terms of not having all the enemy units flock to your location.
One "problem" is that Castor tends to be ignored by both mother nature and enemy units so that I was able to get rid of one Sky Passage by himself alone. |

OK, so I found a way of "fattening" my heroes to an unphysiological degree (imagine Kastor having 300+ attack, 97% armor) and easily beat those pesky Titans. (The trick is to put 5 or more computer players in single player and then just kill a lot of units).
But then Kronos is surrounded by all these servants of his who have a tendency to do an Ajax on heroes and even my guardian and catapult them to the ledges--and therefore I can't get to Kronos! My Roc was too far away in the southern corner and got transformed into a minion halfway so it was very little use anyway.
Suggestion: maybe giving us free Rocs that are close by; or getting rid of those ledges surrounding Kronos.

To neverrush:
In quest 2: 4 Titans in 10 munites is possible! Don't forget, you start with +4 Mythattack bonus in singleplayer mode. Mythattack bonus is the myth damage multiplier, which will be added at start. Example: The campain heroes have a myth damage multiplier of 8 times the normal attack! So, the attack against myth units (AND TITANS ALSO!!!) is 8+4=12 times stronger in singleplayer mode. And you are already upgraded by kills in quest 2 anyway ;) !
There is also a "known trick" how you can pass the ledges: Save a tower and place the tower to the bottom of the cliff close to your lifted hero, then garrison and you are at the ground.
Also: The Guardian is very strong and he can't be lifted to the cliffs by the Servants of Kronos! So, let him take the lead in quest 3 and kill the Servants first, it won't take long. Then guide you other heroes to Kronos, with a security distance to the Servants.
Have you tried this yet? ;) |

This was overall a great map but some parts were really bad. The cliff tossing thing is HORRIBLE. It messes up the game really, really, really badly. Also the heroes in late game don't actually matter. I just sent my guardian in and that was the end. There was also a HUGE problem. A norse computer player will build a titan gate and many buildings. They will build towers, houses, and MAKE units. Those are the bad things about this game to give this map a four. The good thing is that the map always variates. It is never the same experience.(Unless you played it a MILLION times, lol)
Additional Comments:
Great game. Could use some improvements and changes, but still overall a great game. |

@ TheMightyLemon:
Thanks for the review. Well, I scripted this map basically for multiplayer. However, It also works "not too bad" in singleplayer mode. Unfortunately, in singleplayer mode your computer hero mates do not have a proper AI to play this complex quest map.

I actually do not see this feature as a problem. It even makes this map more alive and - don't forget - you get upgrades by kills and razings. For the new titan, do not forget that you will get VERY strong myth unit attack bonus (also versus titans!) during the quests.
@ Epilepsy Lad:
Just unzip the file and copy both files into your document directory "My Games", usually:
C:/documents/my name/my files/my games/age of mythology/rm2/
or let windows just search "rm2" on C:

i did it!
you should disable cheats. i cheated until i had vortex to get from sky passage to another,AFTER killing the titan there first. i then wnet to the centre using it...and used a hesperides dree which the enemy took to spawn dryads what i 1 hit killed. WHILE under attack by 2 of the 4 titans. i stopped at level 50 to kill said titans. i only got reglinleif catapulted up to a ledge and managed to kill both kronos and the 2 prometheus!
i was way past 100 at this point and i happened to get deconstruct,WHICH WORKS ON THE GATE. |
