Playability: 2
Fun, well, I suppose it was fun. The only reason I gave this a 2 instead of a 1 was that I like being able to antswarm my opponents with soliders. On the other hand, the game -allowed- me to max everything and then send in a constant stream of cannon fodder. Worth a play-thru once, but not twice unless I'm feeling sadistic. ^_~
Balance: 1
No balance whatsoever. It's hard to kill off everything, but only because the map is loaded down. Given an endless supply of time and resources, the only way to loose this map is to kill yourself off. The 'bad guys' don't even have an AI that I can see... they just sit there until you walk into sight range and then they attack. Rather frustrating.
Creativity: 1
Just a straightforward 'kill-it' map. Maybe it was intended to do more, but I never found any triggers or quest points to give a hint.
Map Design: 3
Nice map, but using water tiles for the -entire- city was rather annoying after a while. Most of the effects are not meant to work on water (footprints, shadows, etc). Also, what's the ship's wake doing in the middle? The overload of relics was also a tad distracting. Also, dumping the shades beyond the walls leads to a very frustrated player knocking down walls trying to kill them all to get the game to end.
Story/Instructions: 1
Self-explanitory, I think.
Additional Comments:
Like I said above, not a bad map if someone wants to spend a day killing things. But that aside, this map needs -something-. I spent an amusing 15min at the end killing off all of the food animals, because I had gotten so darned frustrated trying to hunt down the last shade to get the game to end! Setup deom plot points, give the bad guys an AI so they don't just sit there, and you'd have a decent game. ^_^
