The Hunter's Tale - Prologue Dreams

A cinematic preview scenario of my upcoming Age of Mythology RPS Campaign. It is also my first Age of Mythology scenario, and my first use of Cinematic Movies in games.

This is a dream, that the protaganist of the Campaign has, the dream that starts out the entire adventure. But as of now little can be made of it, there's more depth in there than first noticed. It gives a vision of things to come in the campaign and the poem shown in it is the backstory to the campaign.

But if the few story elements are ignored, it still is a good cinematic preview, much like the trailer of a upcoming movie. It uses the Two Towers version of Clint Mansell's "Summer Overture" as background music and all camera transitions and tracks are coordinated with the music.

Thx, as for waiting, not much can be done there. The first campaign will be long, and I still have to learn how to use all parts of the editor so just - errr - wait :)

I listed where the music came from in the REAMME... it's Clint Mansell's "Summer Overture" that was featured in the Lord of the Rings Two Towers trailer. I have no right to use and much less to give you right to use it :)

I used it I guess illegally, I hope that because it's for a freeware addition to a game that will defend me. After all almost everybody does it. As for if you mean if you can use the actual sound file, feel free. I used Goldwave to cut that from the trailer...

I'm not really sure on the rules of playability for cinematics, so I won't complain. Thanks for your review, glad you liked it.
glorfindels_army This a great cinematic, good for your first try. The music wasnt exactly blowing me off me feet, mainly because i have load of versions of it on my comp;). The campaign should be good.
Mythos_Ruler Playability: 5
(This cinematic has definately whet my appetite! It is a nearly perfect trailer.)

Balance: 5
(Given the amount of effort put into this trailer, I know this will be an extremely well made campaign.)

Creativity: 5
(Camera angles, camera tracks, the music, just about everything is perfect! This has "Hollywood Production" written all over it. The use of the door ram to add a "punch" to the music was absolutely scary.)

Map Design: 5
(He divided the map into "set pieces" or "scenes" very effectively. He demonstrates how a good cinematic and its map should be layed out.)

Story/Instructions: 5
(Very creative use of the poem. I loved the "ending" of the cinematic - it reminds me of the ending to the adapted screenplay by John Logan called "I am Legend" --> BOY: Who are you? MAIN CHARACTER: I... am Legend. Similar thing here. Wonderful!)

Additional Comments:
This is one of the few "Trailers" or "Cinematics" to truly feel *cinematic.* I completely recommend everyone to give it at least a once over. I know I will be waiting for the finished campaign to arrive.

Oscar I don't think is a good idea rate only a cinematic intro. In my opinion also a scenario to play should be with beginning intro.
In any case I'm wainting for your scenario, too.

Yea, well... (Mythos, I thanked you for your review at WFG but here's another thanks, so these ppl don't think I'm rude :D)

I had already premade the story to the campaigns, so I wasn't going to add something just to make it fit better. The prolgue works because the main character does have these dreams, and also a playable version could not be done in a weekend, so I only released this.

Also, cinematics, by themselves are (IMHO) a very powerful tool, more so than playable to get ppl interested in an upcoming campaign. Why, because you know that you will not be investing much time and that you can sit through it again once the final version comes out.

I do see the problem with the review system being applyed to cinematic scenarios, I myself think they deserve their own catagory and review system since they lack both playability and balance...

Anyway, I don't think I'll stop because about every one of my scenarios is too big a scenario to be a demo so I'll continue to release trailers or teasers. But then there's only 1-2 more that will be coming out at all (for the 2nd and 3rd campaign, winter and next spring).

But I'll consider your comment for other projects :)
