Although I haven't recognized any changes in 1.2, I guess you can leave it at that and be proud ;). |

LJC creates a pensive, melancholy mood is this elegant little cinematic that is definitely worth a download and watch. Drawing from the haunting soundtrack of Braveheart, the droning pipe-like orchestration really sets one's heart unto the rugged and lonely plains of the Scottish highlands. Through the use of effective camera angles, nicely constructed cliff features and a beautiful forced perspective shot overlooking a town, the cinematic successfully creates a sense of the towering splendour and sweeping majestic vistas reminiscent of the Scottish steppe.
Although visually the graphic and design elements are adequate, at times they seemed a bit rudimentary. For example missing are varied terrain colours and textures. In addition, the settings, at times, lacked the visual weight of more widely used and carefully-placed embellishing features. These elements were present, but not with enough abundance to fully satisfy my appetite for visual variety.
It is always a challenge to advance a story without using dialogue and this work succeeded with varying success. Indeed the mood was dreamy in part due to a lack of dialogue, but the drawback was I really had to work hard to understand what Kamos' role was in the story. And finally, when I watch or play AOM related ULs I always look for at least one little "Ohh, how was that done" element. Unfortunately I saw none here.
Otherwise LJC has created a very fine project which is powerful perhaps because of its simplicity and grace. His trigger work is very efficient and- other than a few awkwardly juxtaposed moving camera shots- the camera work effectively creates imagery with sense of grandeur and scale often lacking in scenarios. The final animation, kneel and camera track are very effective. |

Writing well is just like making good scenarios, takes loads of practice. Plus after watching LJC's project it inspired me to write something in commemoration. |

Playability: 5
The piece plays flawlessly and is easy to install. I love the song that was used too.
Balance: 5
Absolutely irrelevant to cines, however, it's a very good little story with all the crucial elements to spin an interesting and effective plot.
Creativity: 5
The work's pace and dreamy atmosphere are very effective and the fact that no blood and guts battle scenes- which seem a little cliché-were left out was appreciated. Instead LJC simply suggests a clash of armies. By leaving the battle up to the viewer's imagination, imo, LJC shows a really high degree of creativity when presenting the theme in this original way.
Map Design: 4
The map and settings were pretty and wholly adequate to move the story forward. While the terrains and dressing elements were of very high quality, I would have liked to see more embellishment and detail in the eye candy.
Story/Instructions: 4
In general the story was delicate, pensive and melancholy, and to be able to successfully create all these subtle emotions in such a short time- and without any dialog- in my mind, is the mark of a very high quality cine.
Additional Comments:
I hated to mark down an otherwise really nice cine but that Krios character appears kind of from no where. While the action in that scene is nice and ends the work with a great little shot, the krios character should be introduced earlier so his appearance at the end doesn't leave people wondering where he came from.
Nice job LJC, I really liked this cine a lot.:p
