The Hobbit

Author File Description
File Details
Version: AoM
"In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Hobbit-hole, and that means comfort." - The Hobbit, by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

The scenario 'The Hobbit' chronicles nearly every major plot point in the novel, from the encounter with the Trolls to the Battle of Five Armies. I tried to stay as close to the original story as possible, incorporating a lot of dialogue straight from the book. Other features include:

- Different gameplay methods such as stealth and strategy
- RPG elements such as sub-quests
- A level-up system based on the number and type of enemies you kill
- A bonus mission should you reach high enough a level
- Cinematic cut-scenes render important points of the plot
- An 'html' readme file which contains many tips and tricks, as well as a comprehensive walkthrough for every sub-quest and power-up in the game
- Different modes of gameplay for beginners and experts

NOTE: The scenario can theoretically be played on all difficulty levels, with varying degrees of difficulty respectively. I would play on 'Easy' though, for that is what I based my play-testing on.

Sincerely, Istari

Elros Playability: 5
Fun throughout and constantly offering new, original challenges (who else has ever had the main character help out on a farm?) I haven't enjoyed a scenario this much since your sorcery scenario.

Balance: 5
Perfectly balanced with the Simple and Real mode option.

Creativity: 4
Based on a book, but you've still managed to get loads of new ideas in there, against all the odds.

Map Design: 5
Great eye candy and location design. Good work in getting so much on one map.

Story/Instructions: 4
A good story, even if it's not your own. Instructions aren't as clear as I'd like, e.g. when Gandalf is supposed to find Beorn.

Additional Comments:
One of the most enjoyable scenarios I have ever played. Great job on Vanilla and might have been perfect with Titans, especially the name change function. Well Done Istari!

One of the best scenarios i have played in along time nice map as well
indraroop Sounds good, but I till today I didn't know whether it looked as good, because of the simple reason: There's TOO much lag. The scenario just doesn't run on my computer because its so huge (and slow); AoM hangs instead. After trying it out on a faster computer, I have one comment: ITS AWESOME!!!
log4ever84 How/where do i save the file to???

Just a reminder. If you're going to review my scenario, please do a decent job of it. I'm glad you like it, but if you want to say that, just say it in a 'comment'. I'll glad accept any reviews, but please take the time to do the review properly and in-depth, or it will just be deleted. No offense intended. Thanks. ;)
Cagiens Downloaded it, tryed it, finished it, love it! Great jod! :)
Lee_Emperor_ I aint played this scenario yet but after reading these reviews i am deffinatley going to.

There are so many reviews complaning about lagg.
1 way to get rid of the lagg would of been to make it into a campaign but then it wouldnt feel right

give this guy a break it aint his fault if you got slow computers just stop complaining

i am really lookin forward to playin this and will review again after i do
