~~~~Ainulindalë~~~~
The tale of the making of the World through the Music of the Ainur (Gods), of which its name is the Quenya version.
This is an preview of my Silmarillion campaign. Unfortuntanly I must design for the contest HoM and since I have to go to
school and the map/triggers system is huge I will need the time.
~~~~Installation~~~~
-Put the mp3 file in Age of Mythology/Sound/Music/Fight
-Put the .scx file in Age of Mythology/Scenario
Have fun.
DO NOT RATE PLAYABILITY/BALANCE 1 OR 5 JUST BECAUSE IT AN MOVIE!!! CHANGE THAT INTO:

That'll be cool I haven't read the book but I know the basic story. BTW will you have The Fall of Gondolin in your campaign? |

Jup, everything will be included.
I know the elves call Melkor, Morgoth but only after he stole the Simarils, this is about the creation of Arda (the middle earth planet) and before the elves.
Can somebody rate this?[Edited on 08/21/04 @ 05:39 PM]

Watchability: 3
I only found this averagely watchable. The initial cut on Arkantos in the blackness didn't feel very right at all, the music was very nice though. I also found it a bit ambigous as to whjo and what they were doing. They appeared to be standing in a black nothingness looking at a giant being. Who the people were who stood around him is beyond me. The effects you put into it repeatedly were unnecessary, I thought. Often, I felt the camera tracks lag really badly because you randomly decided to launch a thousand white explosions at Arkantos' feet, along with multiple other colours of FX around all the other characters. I don't understand why this was done, but it felt somewhat clumsy and became boring. Later in the cinematic, you had another bad camera shot of Arkantos. This time, however, you cut off Theocrats head for the entire time, and camera was not centred on Arkantos. Even though you probably intended this, it didn't look very good.
Often, the white explosion effects around Arkantos' feet were move into the earth giving them a hard square edge, which wasn't particularly nice.
Balance: 4
As I mentioned, the camera lagged often when you filled the screen with random explosion and effects. This didn't particularly look or feel nice. The camera shots were pretty repetetive, and I feel you could have done so much more with what you was trying to acheive. Random camera tracks of pieces of nature on the forest floor seemed a bit repetitive and monotonous. If you was trying to convey the creation of the earth and beauty, you could have used some much nicer things. Perhaps some pans over sharp mountains tops or volcanoes? Or maybe a ragin storm over an ocean?
Creativity: 4
Rather creative, but the actual cinematography in it didn't particularly feel creative. It seemed to just use the standard pans around units from a high angle. With this idea, you could have used a lot of very creative ideas, camera shots, tracks, animations etc. The music was a very nice touch (and it just happens I've been looking for it for ages, so thanks). I think you should have done something more with the characters in the blackness. They just stood their while the black exploded with lagging wild colours. However, this is creative in itself.
Map Design: 2
The map didn't feel particularly well designed, especially when one takes into account what you could have done with the exact same story and dialogue. Forest floor and the same trees were not particularly nice, neither was the lack mof elevation. The water seemed slightly unnatural, and the waterfall didn't seem to fit wat the top where it was place, due to how the cliff was designed around it.
Story/Instructions: 3
The story was very ambigous. I *think* that they have just created the earth, and are singing to celebrate it whilst we are shown some shots or the more boring places on the planet. Much of the dialogue seemed without purpose/motive, and it didn't feel very well co-ordinated.
Additional Comments:
I think it's a shame that you chose to show boring shots of sheep standing on a forest floor, rather than some of the miraculous worly wonders that you could have conjured together. |

This lagged? Well not at my place. These is the chapter Ainulindalë in the Silmarillion and there the names of the Valar are unknown but it will be explaned in the next cinematic of the campaign.
About storms, the Valar itself creates these when they want but since they aren't on the planet, it means that there aren't any. About volcanous, there is only one Volcano in Arda and that one is in Mordor, a very bad place and this shows the good things that where in that time.
The dialogs where taken from the original book and I'm not going to change those.
But thanks for the review, can you name more wonder events? Without Elves, Dwarfs, Humans they weren't created then. |
