Something wasn’t right. They felt it for quite a while. Sure, the world looked absolutely normal. Birds were singing. Trees were standing there being green and stuff. Eye candy was lying on the ground, ridiculously plentiful and totally covering the grass and making eyes bleed and computers explode, like any respectable AoM eye candy does. Yet there was this strange feeling on emptiness... Then, one day, sitting in a tavern, our heroes Arkantos and Ajax finally realised.
Some bastard stole the point of scenario of which they were main characters!

And so began the epic story of bravery, heroism, and explicit idiocy. Will they find the point of scenario? Will they slash their way through dozens of random encounters? What does the strange old man want? And will our heroes survive the worst ambush in military history?

Having nothing better to do during the summer, I decided to mess with the AoM editor for a while. And so it all begun. The result of this work, "No Point", the only satirical scenario I know of, is now avaliable for download.

"No Point" features:

Over 14 minutes of cinematics;

Around 295 triggers;

An actual challenge. Not like, go down the road and kill random MU;

Multiple custom sounds;

Use of animations, icons, music, sounds, and other nifty things that make it look... er, nifty;

Many amazing and original quests [braaaaaaaag];

"No Point" does not feature:

Logical plotline

UPDATE November 7: Fixed the transportation bug, added some minor corrections. Overall nothing you would notice :P

Strategia OMG, I laughed my ass off during the entire scenario..... XD

The only "bugs" I ran into was Ajax getting up twice after getting kicked, and the edge of a mountain appearing during the roc scene. Apart from that, perfect.

It's actually quite balanced, I tried both the Greta quest and the part near the end twice, using what I knew about the situation to make sure I won both times. (IIRC, I actually had Arkantos die on me during the Greta quest (but don't quote me on that) and I didn't experience any problems with the transport.) As for the part near the end, I lured the elephant back to the ford and killed it there, paused for a bit then moved on hugging the edge of the trees to stay out of ballista range. It worked pretty well, Arkantos only died after I was attacking the lower one but a quick Restoration afterwards went a long way. I bolted one of the Avengers while attacking the second Ballista, the other Avenger then came after me but I killed both him and the ballista. So it can be done without running past everything :)

Let me just finish by saying, It was funny as hell and I laughed my ass off. XD MOAR!

Playability: 4.5 (Rounds up)
Its a shame to mark you down for such a great scenario. I could not fault you in this category, however I marked you as 4.5 because if a player did not discover Zebra's weapon shop, they would not understand the final cinematic. But its their fault for not being adventurous ;).

Balance: 4.5 (Rounds down)
The units were balanced well but one the first mission where you had to find Greta Forkbeard there were too many enemies, only by one or two though. I decided to round down ebcause I rounded playability up.

Creativity: 5
One of the most creative scenarios I have ever seen! All the missions has a great hilarious storyline and I especially liked the little extra like Athena, Zulu Attack and teen gril Squad! Youve also used animations to their full potential especially when Chiron kicked Ajax, very funny! Also the random quotes by villagers just gave it that extra laugh. The LoTR scenario bit was also extremely funny.

Map Design: 5
I cant fault you here either, the map had nice terrain mizing even though it was grass with a nice placement of trees. This is a great example of how to make grass look nice, although you could have added some more bushes. The extra cinematic places were placed expertly, so they could not be seen during the scenario.

Story/Instructions: 5
Pretty simple, nothing wrong with your instructions and I iknew what to do every step of the way. I especially like the messages and objective, humour always helps people understand the instructions and makes the whole map more enjoyable.

Additional Comments:
The humour in this scenario is fantastic, i was laughing almost all the way, the sound files gave me another thing to laugh at. You really should make a sequel because I would like to encourage humourous scenarios.

Absolutely amazing fun. This's at as high a standard as campaigns from Ensemble Studios themselves. This was smooth as.

Balance: 5
Excellent. You were given enough troops and power to make it tough without it being impossible.

Creativity: 5
Don't know how you thought of it, but it was absolutely brilliant. The toilet really gave you the mental impression of an actual toilet, and your humor was great aswell. I loved the squid that overthrew Zeus and the fact that you had scarabs as cockroaches in the toilet, the suicidal Kamos scene and even when Chiron kicked Ajax in the -3.

Map Design: 5
Eye-Candy was eye wateringly spectacular, as well as all your little extra sections like Hephaestus's Collossi factory or the mountain with Zeus on it.

Story/Instructions: 5
Very clearly and well planned out. At no point in the level was I wondering what to do or where to go. The plot was a original and creative (not to mention plain daft) and extremely funny.

Additional Comments:
Brilliant work. I know I'm rating this completely full on everything and that may be a bit over the top but in my eyes this scenario deserves the highest possible score it can get. After playing that scenario it took all my will power to make myself actually write a proper review as oppose to just filling all the boxes with things like OMG, ROFLMAOOL!!

I don't know how you did it but you did. That was SO cool. Please do make a sequel!

Okay, now that I'm done ranting I have a design question:

How do you make it that gates that aren't on your team (eg. with your scen, 1 & 3) open for eachothers troops WITHOUT giving them LOS over eachother's gates?

Like in your scenario, you make it that when you come to a Player 3 gate, it opens for Arkantos and Ajax and lets them through. While in the editor I placed down a random P1 unit and tried to pass through a P3 gate, but it wouldn't open for me, so clearly it wasn't to do with the diplomacy.

Did you use triggers or what? Remember that what I'm asking is how to give one player entry through another's gates WITHOUT giving them LOS on the gates themself.

You also used this technique on P5's Underworld Passage after the part where you kill the assasin, because you were able to use the passage even though it was invoked by a player who wasn't even an ally.

Please tell me how you did these things! I will be very grateful!
