Warg Rider

Author File Description
Stephen Caines
File Details
Version: AoM: The Titans
This mod adds a new set of models, new texture and new anim for the Warg Rider character in my earlier LOTR CivPack. Included are autoinstaller, instructions and screenshot. This is my first attempt at modelling so I would appreciate any constructive feedback.

Thanks to eXtincion for the great guide.

Well here is your "review". The Warg Rider's model actually looks quite good. The whole body of the warg really does look like the wargs in the LOTR movies. (A big improvement since your first Lotr modpack) HOwever, the texture are kinda choppy. Like the head you really can't define what part is what other part. I would like advise you to like add more shadows and make the warg itself darker. This would make it look more real.

Additional Comments:
YOur first time modelling?? If i'm just giving you a mark on modelling, I would have given you a 5. Great models!!! Anyway since the textures are kinda choppy I gave you a 4. ( I like the anim too.)

Thanks for the feedback Celer - gosh a real constructive criticism;)

I have relooked at the model and I think the (choppy) problem is that I had a bit of an overlap on the body segments when I put them together and when the bones move it is creating creases in the texture.

I was trying to short cut by saving the non-animated version pre adding bones and using this as the basis for each action model, but may need to rethink the strategy. I also need to do a bit more research on anatomy to understand which boy segments should be affected by each bone!

The face was hard cause I haven't got a really good shot to work from. In the photo I have the eyes are set quite forward and are small. I can see them cause I know where they are. Having just bought all the extended LOTR DVD's for the xmas, hopefully I will get more examples and a better shot to work from.

I will also muck around with the lighting. I started off darker, but when it was combined with maps with low lighting levels it was a bit hard to see. I wonder if you can vary textures depending on the background lighting?

Anyway thanks for taking the time to post a review. You've done wonders for my average! I will endeavour to put the critique to good use.

The Warg looks very much like it should except it has no eyes. The rider loks like a tall orc.

Additional Comments:
Very good, but needs a bit of work on the warg and a shorter rider. Your First Time, Holy Moly. (my first time was crap)

Answer:
In some myths wargs are only big wolves or strange wolf like beasts, besides, wargs are fantasy and we can immagine them in many ways, even in a LOTR,warg rider modpack.
