AoM: The Titans |
This mod adds a new unit: the Cretan Mercenary.
This is a greek mercenary archer with an iron armor and a little shield. This unit can also attack in short range with his sword (putting his bow on his back). The unit choose automatically how to attack.
Greeks armies made a large use of mercenary (especially in Alexander's period). The Cretan Mercenaries are specialized in the use of bow, not much used by other greek soldiers.

1)I answer to Orc Master:
When you want to make a unit with Ranged and Hand attack, you have to put a Maximum Range and a Minimum Range into the Ranged Attack, and, of course, a Maximum Range into Hand Attack:
-action name="RangedAttack"
-param name="MaximumRange" value1="18"/param
-param name="MinimumRange" value1="6.0"/param
and
-action name="HandAttack"
-param name="MaximumRange" value1="0.5"/param
In this way a unit, if is in the minimum range, use a Ranged Attack, if not, use an Hand attack. Look at my protox, it is more clear that my words.
(Sorry for the bad english, I try to be more clear as possible :-)
PS: However, I'm not spanish, I'm italian!

2)I answer to Wakain.
I'm not sure to have understand your question... Would you know how to open the protox.xml and paste in a new text?
Well, open the protox.xml with WordPad or Block Notes. After you open the protox, go to the end of the file. You 'll find something like this:
___action
__unit
_proto
Now, copy the text you want to insert and paste it between _action and _unit. Then save the protox.xml.
If I undersand the question, well, I made a better explanation of this problem in the "comments" of the Greek Commander unit, so you can look there.
If not, do again the question and I'll try to answer :-)

Thanks Dan_Swordsman. Yeah, after I looked at the name of your textures I figured out that you don´t speak in Spanish. It´s just Italian is looks like Spanish at the begining.
Well, that should help. I´ll give you credit in my Star Wars Modpack.
Thanks again! |

It's not bad, but not so much of a unique texture though. I still think that the original texture of myrmidon is way better.
Additional Comments:
The texture could also apply to hoplite model if you wanna make it more interesting. |

Hi.
First of all Great Mod - a really brilliant Idea. It's fantastic to be able to use effective archers that will not need to rely on cavalry or infantry for close-quarters combat. Well done!
I just have one extremely Noobish question, as I have not yet installed any Mods.....
Do you have to play with a certain Civilisation to use these units, or are they available as 'Mercenaries for hire' from the Town Center of any civilisation? |

Great unit addition; looks great, well balanced, and very useful.
Additional Comments:
Well done, thanks for posting this. I can never have enough Greek (and/or Roman) units in this game. |
