AoM: The Titans |
From Ambition Designs;
Uprising
Telos squinted to look through the enveloping darkness. By a distant torchlight he caught a glance of the lumbering beast. But where was it going? Before he could contemplate any answer, rumbling footsteps could be heard - getting closer... closer still.
He stepped backwards, his hands flailing behind him to find some support, something to give comfort. All he found was the rough wet and stone surface of the high block of housing.
By another torch, he glimpsed it again. It was moving quickly.
The housing behind him was precariously built, fashioned with many houses on top of each other up a cliff side – people who lived on the higher buildings obviously used stairs and ladders to get to their dwellings.
Telos heard the high pitched growl. It was almost mechanical, like the sound of sharpening a weapon.
There was a light in the lowest abode, and he could hear the faint sound of talking and laughter through the closed shutters. He almost wanted to shout to them, for help; to help themselves.
Out of nowhere, the creature was everywhere. It launched into the air, and through mere instinct, Telos dived out of the way. The monster didn’t even notice – it pummeled through the side of the building on the lowest floor, and it disappeared inside, dust billowing.
Telos stood up, watching, sword in hand and ready for another attack. Another rumbling could be heard, a different one, and a creaking too. Before the creature could even move, the entire five stories of buildings collapsed down on top of it.
An ear shattering howl was soon cut out. |

Your problem is you do it wrong.
"but done badly"
I did everything I wanted to do perfectly. If you can't play it, go play some easy scenario like Heros Chronicles.
"you can easily die just trying to beat the einherjar let alone with the archer helping him"
You lose Zero HP if you use the ballista.
Problem solved. So rather than just go forward and hack/slashing, perhaps you should think about challenges...? |

He does have a point that it is overly difficult and the Einjhar part is hard, even with a ballista because your unit keeps moving (I guess you can set it on no attack stance, but for the noobs).
The opening cinematic should've been better. However, that said, the map design is leaps ahead of alot of stuff on the d/w section, the challenge is a worthy and fun one, and the puzzles and trigger tricks are a joy to behold.
I personally rate this as one of my favorite downloads on the section.
Here's a suggestions- play it in Window mode. If you chat with your friends while playing, you won't get bored of re-trying the hard parts. Also, use the statues and the big circle thing to kill the bad guys. |

I'd appreciate another review, as long as you're concise and objective - which, of course, you are. ;)[Edited on 07/31/05 @ 04:45 PM]

Thanks for the brilliant review!
The only reason the cinematics didn't have animations is because the Myrmidon, Atlanta and Mercenary units have no cinematic animations. :p
I was adamant about using those units in particular, rather than the standard heroes everyone units. I love the look of the myrmidon unit, see.[Edited on 09/23/06 @ 11:45 AM]

Ah, yes. That makes sense.
So, are you still designing for AoM or are you just playing around with the newer games? |
