AoM: The Titans |
Not happy with the way that the AOM campaign "Troy" portrayed the story? I mean what about Achilles and the Trojan heroes. Play this campaign as the Trojans.
Fantastic Campaign!
Includes heaps of awesome triggerwork and eye candy. First class cinematics
Songs: System of A down- Hypnotize
Note: This is the real version of Troy. If somehow there are other files they will be corrupt because the zip file was too large |

Playability: 4
(Playing the campaign it was extremely enjoyable. I thought the cinematics were very good and there was always much to do on each scenario. Overall the playability was very good.
Balance: 5
(Though often too hard on moderate I could just change to "easy mode" and coped with it very well. I think it was important that it ws at least a challenge. For the level where you had to find the heroes in five minutes I saved it which meant I had more time to look. Because the campaign had triggers changing the level of difficulty to suit the player it had to be a five.)
Creativity: 4
(Whilst the story itself was not too creative I liked how it differed from the AOM campaign. There were some things that were also different. The main story of Troy was still there but the designer changed the scenarios to use the full potential of some of the triggers. The fact that it was based on the movie Troy stopped this area from being a 5. Although I think that it is always a good idea to base your campaigns upon something)
Map Design: 5
(The map ws brilliant. It must have been so difficult putting down all of the sprites, the grass and on the first level those glowy things in the forest. The map always had something good to see and I liked how you designed Troy.)
Story/Instructions: 4
(The story was very good and made sense but I dont quite know why you made briseis a prisoner. But this is a creative aspect of your campaign so I will not mark it down. The instructions were always very clear and you knew what to do. Although sometimes hard the hints and the word document were helpful. Rather than changing the difficulty to easy I persisted at the moderate level. I had a great time working through each level.)
Additional Comments: I thought this campaign was very good. Especially if you want to see some nice cinematics. Keep em up! :)

Playability: 5
The campaign was great, and with varied objectives which supplied the scenarios very well. But you should have added more playable scenarios though, it was a bit boring to look at cinematics all the time. Also, your cinematics could be a bit "annoying" at times because they faded to black and back again so often. Else great.
Balance: 4
The balance were pretty good, on the little time it was gameplay... But, what's pulling down here is that the second playable scenario were too easy, you could just walk down with the troops you had, fight out Briseis and make her return while your other troops fought the enemy. This was based on level Easy, which is around my skill level...
Creativity: 5
Your creativity was great, you had a lot of different buildings combined into great-looking overlays, and the campaign itself were pretty inventive itself. The scenario where you should find the heroes was especially cool! And your idea of turning buildings upside down to create spears were also nice.
Map Design: 4
A lot of building overlays and different effects used there, also nicely placed flowers and rocks everywhere. The forests were cool too. But your use of effects were irritating for the eyes at sometimes. And you had some very unreal effect placings sometimes. Else, very great and creative design.
Story/Instructions: 5
Your objectives were easy to understand, and I didn't have any problems at all finding out what to do. Your objectives were also varied, from rescuing someone to finding things. And adding extra, optional objectives gave it a nice touch.
Additional Comments:
Nice campaign overall. You have done it pretty well![Edited on 04/09/06 @ 06:08 PM]

Playability: 3
I had high hopes when I read about this campaign since I didn't care to much for the one in AOM, however I just thought that most of the cinematics lasted to long and you couldn't skip them, they were pretty cool the first time through but got tired of sitting through them on repeated tries. Also, even though this promised to be based on the real story of Troy it actually most closely followed the movie "Troy" and also had God Power's, Myth Units, and personally mixed the civilizations to much. Why Norse, Egyptian and Altantean units and power's were mixed in here I don't know.
Balance: 5
Balance was fine, just a matter of finding the right difficulty.
Creativity: 3
Did OK here, but like another poster commented didn't know what the imprisonment part was for, also the last scenario is too easy, I would have liked more battles.
Map Design: 4
Map desing was quite good, it is obvious the designer put alot of time into each map and most of it was brilliant. But again, the one thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 is that there was just to much of the Civ mixing.
Story/Instructions: 3
Well, alot of the story is based on the movie "Troy", the designer does put some personal touches to it which maybe good or bad just depending on your own opinion, personally though I didn't understand basing some parts of it almost identical to the movie, but then going way off track having Achilles battling elephants and Kronos Titans. The instructions were easy enough to follow, again, just a matter of finding the right difficulty level for yourself.
Additional Comments:
Bottom line, whoever designed this is obviously very skilled at trigger's and map design, my review may have been a little harsh, but this is not a knock on the designer's abilities, just that I thought the story should have either followed the movie "Troy" or the "Illiad", and it kinda did a little of both and then just had alot of things thrown in that had nothing to do with either. I guess this is just my own personal style but I would liked to have seen more straight up battles with Age Advancement and resource gathering. I would love to be as good and maticulous as this designer, again I just thought it should have stuck with the Greek culture and had more battles.

(Insert Playability analysis here)
Balance: 3
I think the enemy could be a little harder to beat.Expecially in the first level, arrows of appolo, only the last attacking wave is challenging.
Creativity: 4
It is based on the movie Troy, but you still managed to create the city and adapt(i dont know if this the right word, im portuguese)the scenes, like Hector being dragged along the ground, from movie to aom.
Map Design: 4
I think the design was good,i liked the temple, but there were only two places:Troy and the place where they are fleeing.
Story/Instructions: 4
The instructions were simple and accurate.
