This is the first scenario that I have made with some sort of plot. So, as stated before, you play as Montezuma and the Aztecs, and you have to repel the forces of Cortez and his native allies. As the Aztecs, you're supposed to have powerful myth units, but that's kind of balanced out with the multiple barracks and such, since I wanted to give people a good balance. Any advice would be appreciated.
Playability: 3
Overall, the scenario was pretty good. If this was your first scenario, then great job. It definitely is better than my first scenario I submitted. But, there wasn't much to the scenario except destroying the three enemy troops. Maybe you could've thrown in an AI to make the enemy have a mind of their own instead of just standing still. Or you could've made some triggers to get them to move into your base.
Balance: 4
This was probably the best thing about the map. Balance is something that is really hard to pull off, but you did it pretty well. The troops were pretty evenly matched and you had to kill one of the enemy troops before you could gather wood from the forest. The guardian helped a lot in some of the situations. But, maybe you could even out the numbers in the troops. The troop on the right side had hardly any people and the bottom troop had tons of people.
Creativity: 3
You showed some creativity. It was cool how you used the send chat trigger to make the enemies talk. But, you didn't do any amazing trigger tricks. Next time, use some more triggers to make the gameplay more fun and add some music.
Map Design: 3
There wasn't anything spectacular here, but there also wasn't horrible map design. You did good on some parts like the temple area inside of the city. Work on mixing the terrain a little bit more. Also, try adding a bit more detail to the forest and the water. Eyecandy is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Just add a little more detail to give it that good old realistic feeling.
Story/Instructions: 2
The story wasn't really out there. You could've made some chat triggers that told the player why they were being attacked. I also noticed that there weren't any objectives that told you what to do. And it helps a lot if you add a read-me inside of the download.
Additional Comments:
This reminds me an awful lot of a community campaign I was doing called Fall of the Aztec. But, I think the project got canceled. So, it's nice to see that someone did a scenario about the Aztecs and Technoctitlan.
Great job, it was a fun and well balanced map. I'm looking forward to any maps that you might make in the future.
