Winner of 'Best Campaign' January 2007
Winner of 'Best Modpack' January 2007

The Modders and Mappers of the Liquid Fire Studios: Legends of the Third Age Team Proudly Present....

For over 2 years, the Legends of the Third Age team have been working to re-create the first installment of Tolkien's classic Lord of the Rings trilogy in AoM. In this long-awaited campaign, the player follows the adventures of the nine members of the Fellowship in their quest to destroy the One Ring. The scenarios are made to the highest quality by some of the best designers in the community, and will lead the player from the sweeping rural hills of the Shire to the deepest depths of Moria to the wooded ruins of Amon Hen. Complex map design and amazing eye candy will keep gamers coming back simply to watch the brilliantly created cinematics. Even more fantastic is the completely original soundtrack created by a true genius at his craft. From Rivendell to Mordor, Legends of the Third Age: The Fellowship of the Ring brings Middle-Earth alive like never before.

Aside from the excellent scenarios, The Fellowship of the Ring boasts what may be the largest and most expansive modpack in Age of Mythology history. Each weapon is authentic, and gamers will feel the fires of the Balrog and hear the crack of Gimli's axe. Each face of each hero is authentic and detailed, as is every structure in the many exotic Middle-Earth locales. The mods were made by legends in the Age of Mythology community, and the quality does show.

The Fellowship of the Ring has features such as:

- The world of J.R.R tolkein created in AoM for the first time!
- 12 beautiful maps, pain-stakingly made to the finest quality by some of the best Age of Mythology mappers out there.
- The largest and most detailed modpack ever created in AoM!
- Original and never before seen game play.
- Extensive and professional sound track.

Big thanks to Ykkrosh for creating the BAR loading mod, of which this project makes extensive use of.

**This project is dedicated to the late, great Flipbizcut (1979-2005).**

Guardian Of Isis Thank you very much, Titan! Finally, a 4+ review.

The team is currently working on a patch to get the biggest bugs and overall problems out of the project.
Anastasoulis Playability: 5
Extremely playable with a variety of tasks, although the riddles are kind'a hard for non anglo-saxon players like myself and so I had to ask some of my friends for help.

Balance: 5
OK, some parts were hard and some easy, as in the movie, but in the end it works out. If there are problems-differences between game and movie, it's only due to AoM's limitations.

Creativity: 5
You guys followed the film all the way making a very good reproduction in AoM. I guess you found ingenious ways to show all the stuff that was there and what can I say, it was great. I give you this mark, cause of the tremendous work and skill you put into the mods.

Map Design: 5
It's just writhing (I hope I spelled it right) with eyekandy all the way, and the objects are meshed very creatively.

Story/Instructions: 5
The player always knows exactly what is required of him in each step of the way.

Additional Comments:
I believe that such great, long, hard, creative work, always deserves a 5 ~ regardless of any small problems that need to be fixed, as expected with such huge projects.
Congrats guys

Tiber Septim
Map Design3.0
I have taken the time to rethink my review.

[Playability/Modding Enjoyability: 4]
Due to the mods, this was a very fun scenario. The design for Hobbiton and Moria I really liked, some parts where hard, some easy, and the amount of freedom in some maps was very good. Who made the Balrog? That was the best mod by far, Sauron's eye coming close behind, then Sauron behind that. Whoever made the mods, they are VERY good.

[Balance/Modding Functionality: 3]
The dogs in Hobbiton may be a bit fast, but I like it anyway - the mods worked perfectly, I will go as far as saying that RiderOfEternity and the LTA team could seriously join ES in the future, they're that good. Who made Moria? Though the cave troll does seem to take a while to arrive, it is an excellent map, that and Lothlorien.

[Creativity/Modding Design: 5]
Lord of the Rings isn't exactly unpopular, but Legends of the Third Age is one of the only good Lord of the Rings campaigns/scenarios I have played. The only other good one is multiplayer, only Istari's scenario equals this one. Very well done to you all on the LTA team! Now on to the modding design... I can make basic mods, but this - wow... I feel like I will only be a veteran modder when i've modded Alien (from the movie), the size of a titan, with every detail, but heck, the Balrog beats even that.

[Map Design: 3]
Not exactly candy to the eyes, but it was something. Out of interest, who made Moria? That was the best map, in my opinion, and whoever made it must be an extremely good designer. I would suggest, instead of using one-square hills for the archers, using cliffs instead though, it looks more realistic. But as Gaurdian said, it isn't all about the map, more about the mods. Brilliant work!

[Story/Instructions: 4]
The instructions could use some revision, and be made a bit clearer, but they're quite good. The story was good, though. I liked the idea of the Hobbiton scenario (for a moment I thought you had devoted a scenario to each chapter). But still, this deserves a four, and thank JRR Tolkein half for that.

[Additional Comments:]
Overall, not the best campaign, but a good one, nontheless. If you wanted to give the impression that this was about the modding, why did you put it under campaigns?
Guardian Of Isis @Anastoulis: Wow! A 5.0 review. Thank you very much! Though if you don't want your review to be removed by a moderator, it would be best if you had 3 lines in each section.

@Tiber: Thank you for taking the time to take a second look at your review. Much obliged. :-)

To answer the question "Who made Moria?": that would be me.

To answer the question "Who made the mods?": The Balrog was made by FlipBizcut and I think (think!) Barad-dûr (= the tower with the Eye) and Sauron were made by Dnas.

To answer your question as to why this campaign is in the campaign section: the scenarios are the common element that ties the modpack together and you need the mods to play the scenarios, whereas you don't need the scenarios to use the modpack. So it's best to put the whole thing here. If it would be put in the modding section, people wouldn't look at the scens, while you have to look at them when playing the campaign (obviously :-P).

Also, I agree on the dogs being a little too fast. I'll change that.

Tiber Septim Moria has to be the best map - really good designing, Isis!
RiderOfEternity Thank you for your re-review Tiber. Though I can't take credit for any of the mods thus far ;) GJ to the team that is, and all past members.

Anastasoulis lovely score! As GoI said though, you should put a little more length to it otherwise it could be removed
Shrink I will review this file fairly soon.
nuclear arbitor RockallDLL.dll? whats that, thats the 3rd or 4th time something hasnt worked cuase of that
Guardian Of Isis I don't know what it is. It wasn't included with LTA in any case. Try backing it up and removing it; see if it makes a difference.
RiderOfEternity Hmm, it seems its not something that you have, but something that you don't have:

Download this: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?rockalldll
Then try putting the .dll into....
1. C:\Windows
2. C:\Windows\System
3. C:\Windows\System32
4. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology

*waits for Dnas to come and preach about how much better Linux is*
