*****AWARDS*****

Winner of 'Best Campaign' January 2007
Winner of 'Best Modpack' January 2007

*****************

The Modders and Mappers of the Liquid Fire Studios: Legends of the Third Age Team Proudly Present....

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

For over 2 years, the Legends of the Third Age team have been working to re-create the first installment of Tolkien's classic Lord of the Rings trilogy in AoM. In this long-awaited campaign, the player follows the adventures of the nine members of the Fellowship in their quest to destroy the One Ring. The scenarios are made to the highest quality by some of the best designers in the community, and will lead the player from the sweeping rural hills of the Shire to the deepest depths of Moria to the wooded ruins of Amon Hen. Complex map design and amazing eye candy will keep gamers coming back simply to watch the brilliantly created cinematics. Even more fantastic is the completely original soundtrack created by a true genius at his craft. From Rivendell to Mordor, Legends of the Third Age: The Fellowship of the Ring brings Middle-Earth alive like never before.

Aside from the excellent scenarios, The Fellowship of the Ring boasts what may be the largest and most expansive modpack in Age of Mythology history. Each weapon is authentic, and gamers will feel the fires of the Balrog and hear the crack of Gimli's axe. Each face of each hero is authentic and detailed, as is every structure in the many exotic Middle-Earth locales. The mods were made by legends in the Age of Mythology community, and the quality does show.

The Fellowship of the Ring has features such as:

- The world of J.R.R tolkein created in AoM for the first time!
- 12 beautiful maps, pain-stakingly made to the finest quality by some of the best Age of Mythology mappers out there.
- The largest and most detailed modpack ever created in AoM!
- Original and never before seen game play.
- Extensive and professional sound track.

===IMPORTANT===
When installing, you extract the extractor to your AOM INSTALL FOLDER,
not the folder you downloaded the file to.
Your AoM install folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\.
It is NOT My Documents\My Games\Age of Mythology.
If you extracted incorrectly, and re-extracted, you must run the
lta.exe inside the AoM folder, NOT the one created from the
mis-extraction.
Please do not pester us about something not working if you did not
extract to the AOM INSTALL FOLDER.
If you are getting an error about rockalldll.dll, you have not
extracted it properly.

GURE Hi Guardian Of Isis and all Designers!
There is the possibility to make a version with the Italian language?

[Edited on 04/29/06 @ 04:16 PM]

RiderOfEternity Hi GURE :)

I'm sorry but I don't think anyone in our team can speak Italian. If you could find us someone who can translate English to Italian then we may be able to make an Italian version :)
Guardian Of Isis How about Oscar? ;-) He's Italian and has translated from Italian to English. The other way 'round shouldn't be so hard.

We'll have to ask him ;)

I think ill just say now (to anyone who hasnt already noticed :P) if your finding it too easy, I challenge you to play it on Titan all the way through! Expect new objectives as well as more numerous and tougher enemies.

nuclear arbitor its something i dont have. i think it has to do with this one thing called aomxmod. there r other things that use this but i dont no what it does, its the titans icon, hmmm, and it seems to be a thing like the special opener for LTA. i dont really no but what ever. im missing something and its preveting me from using any kind of special short cut i think
Dnas *waits for Dnas to come and preach about how much better Linux is*
======
Hahahaha, well, most package managers from Linux (and other *NIX OSes) _do_ manage dependancies for you, making this kind of stuff completely automated, but...

That's not the issue here.

That error occurs when you run aomx.exe aomxmod.exe lta.exe, or whatever, _outside_ the AoM folder.

In other words, read the directions and supply the extractor with the correct folder and run the copy that's _inside_ the AoM directory, NOT outside.

About what it is... the modified exe allows modders to pack the mod into one or more bar files and give it a list of bar files to load. This has the advantage of easier install, more compact, AND this way one can easily turn off the extra bars by just runing the usual aomx.exe.
lta.exe is simply a renamed version of aomxmod.exe. Rider insisted on rnaming it, without forseeing the confusion it could cause for people who have only heard slightly of it.
==============
Oh yes, fun trivia fact of the day: LTA is (probably) the only AoM project to be partly developed on a Linux machine. (UNIX tools make managing huge files like the proto easier and I set up an SVN server that GoI and I made use of, SVN will also be heavily used in TTT and future development to make management easier and more efficient.)

nuclear arbitor thats all nice, wait what? jk, but i really didnt get most of that however i think i get what im supposed to do now which is always nice :) biggest prbolems with lunix and other non windows (every thing how ever macs rnt to bad) is that most games rnt made for them. but u can fix things like that.

EDIT: well now i can get the thing to pop up that says age of mythology: the titans expansion but the game wolnt open, wolnt even go to the movie. i htink im gunna try that roman mod pack and see if it works

EDIT: nope dosnt work either

Ok before I start I know I have a reputation for being a harsh reveiwer, but what I say is the truth! If ya'll don't like it then i'm gonna set Mr T on you!
Playability: 3
Ok so I noticed quite alot of bugs
1. When i was playing on the mission: flight to the ford, the big forest giant gaia thingy kept following me, eventually I lost her but she then proceeded to kill the dwarf who had been converted to another player about ten minutes before hand and I lost the mission.
2. On Moria, when i was in Balins tomb the cave giant that was supposed to attaack me didn't, so i sent legolas out side to look for him and he was stuck, luckily i managed to get him to follow me back into the tomb, but this is still quite a major bug...
3. On weathertop it says leave weathertop through the southwest entrance, from where the screen was left after the cinematic I exited through what i assumed was the south west entrance only to find that it was the way that i had just came... I then found out that it was the south east entrance which you actually intended for me to leave through

Balance: 4
Fairly well balanced but I found that at times it was fairly easy if not long and tedious. but this was only occasionally, but that is to be expected with different designer with different ideas of what is a balanced and what is not.

Creativity: 5
Very creative, lots of new ideas in this scenario. I liked the puzzle on flight to the ford (took me nearly 2 mins to figure out even with my superior brain, but then i didn't use the hints you can get from the statue.) The stamina system is an old idea but, i like the idea of gaining food from an apple tree, which i assume was a mod?

Map Design: 5
I loved the map design especially balins tomb in moria, that was amazing. The paths on rivendell were a nice addtion but tended to block frodo from going exploring as he does not attempt to find a path around. The shire looked amazing and really did look exactly how I'd imagined it would when I read the book many years ago. On pretty much all the missions even though you knew you were following a limited path it didn't feel like it, although perhaps you could do something a bit more creative than invisible walls to stop players from wondering off.

Story/Instructions: 4
A great adaptation of imo one of the best stories of all time. The instructions were clear most of the time but at some times it was slightly unclear. Also when you recive riddles you should either send them in send chat or have it so you can get them repeated as with the message it tended to fade a bit too quickly. Perhaps for the other two campaigns you should add a few more into the objectives panel when you get a side quest so you can check what it was you were supposed to be doing when you load up the game after saving and closing it for the night.

Additional Comments:
The mods were the apitomy of awesomness, although i've had them for about 12 months now ;) I like the addition of more natural eye candy which added to the map design.

A very nice well rounded campaign, also very well organised. I look forward to the next two additions to this amazing project.
