Winner of 'Best Campaign' January 2007
Winner of 'Best Modpack' January 2007

The Modders and Mappers of the Liquid Fire Studios: Legends of the Third Age Team Proudly Present....

For over 2 years, the Legends of the Third Age team have been working to re-create the first installment of Tolkien's classic Lord of the Rings trilogy in AoM. In this long-awaited campaign, the player follows the adventures of the nine members of the Fellowship in their quest to destroy the One Ring. The scenarios are made to the highest quality by some of the best designers in the community, and will lead the player from the sweeping rural hills of the Shire to the deepest depths of Moria to the wooded ruins of Amon Hen. Complex map design and amazing eye candy will keep gamers coming back simply to watch the brilliantly created cinematics. Even more fantastic is the completely original soundtrack created by a true genius at his craft. From Rivendell to Mordor, Legends of the Third Age: The Fellowship of the Ring brings Middle-Earth alive like never before.

Aside from the excellent scenarios, The Fellowship of the Ring boasts what may be the largest and most expansive modpack in Age of Mythology history. Each weapon is authentic, and gamers will feel the fires of the Balrog and hear the crack of Gimli's axe. Each face of each hero is authentic and detailed, as is every structure in the many exotic Middle-Earth locales. The mods were made by legends in the Age of Mythology community, and the quality does show.

The Fellowship of the Ring has features such as:

- The world of J.R.R tolkein created in AoM for the first time!
- 12 beautiful maps, pain-stakingly made to the finest quality by some of the best Age of Mythology mappers out there.
- The largest and most detailed modpack ever created in AoM!
- Original and never before seen game play.
- Extensive and professional sound track.

Big thanks to Ykkrosh for creating the BAR loading mod, of which this project makes extensive use of.

**This project is dedicated to the late, great Flipbizcut (1979-2005).**

When installing, you extract the extractor to your AOM INSTALL FOLDER,
not the folder you downloaded the file to.
Your AoM install folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\.
It is NOT My Documents\My Games\Age of Mythology.
If you extracted incorrectly, and re-extracted, you must run the
lta.exe inside the AoM folder, NOT the one created from the
Please do not pester us about something not working if you did not
extract to the AOM INSTALL FOLDER.
If you are getting an error about rockalldll.dll, you have not
extracted it properly.

CaveTown The auto installer works for me, and I'm sure almost everyone else, but your computer may not want the exe to run.
Guardian Of Isis You may have noticed that the eye-candy is not at the level of the "extreme" designers, such as Oscar and Vandhaal, but you'll find some good stuff in it nonetheless. For example, the Great Hall of Moria is one of my personal favourites, featuring 260+ rescaled pillars, each consisting of 2 Columns. That's more than 520 Columns, all neatly placed in line. So I'd say that's pretty good, no?

Anyway, all have fun. That's the main thing.
Guardian Of Isis Wow, 18 downloads in 10 minutes. Was it something I said? :-D

I'd just like to take this opportunity to tell you all how amazing the whole team has been through all of this. Its been amazing working with you all of you guys (including those that have left the team for whatever reason) despite all the obsticles we've had to overcome, and I look forward to doing two more campaigns with you:)

I want to say thanks to GoI in particular. He was a god send for the mapping department, and has done more work on these maps than the rest of us put together.

Tiber Septim When I double click it, it comes up with the option to extract or run, I run, it asks for the directory, I give it, it extracts, then I play, it doesn't work.

(I think this contains a virus, now AoM won't work, even though I copied the entire game folder)
pEpsIdUDe_123 I'm having a bit of trouble installing it too. The scenarios work, but the mods aren't showing up. And, I think I followed all of the directions.

If you've followed the installation instructions then it should all be fine.

What did you do exactly?
pEpsIdUDe_123 After it finished downloading it saved to my folder. I backed up the files it said to back up in the readme. (data/protox.xml, data/protox.xmb, data/unittransform.xmb, sound/soundsets-xpack.xml, sound/soundsets-xpack.xmb) But, I couldn't find a file called data/unittransform.xml

I extracted it but I accidentally extracted it all to the wrong folder. So then I extracted it again to Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Mythology

Then, I ran the lta.exe

Do you know what I did wrong?
Dnas LOL, I promise you it contains no virus. :P

@pEpsI: I think I know what your problem is... check to make sure you don't already have a protox.xmb or protox.xml file. The modpack uses bar files to prevent OoS in normal AoM.
EDIT: Oh... I'm sorry I guess we didn't make it clear... you back up protox, etc. and move them somewhere else. (And you might not have all of them... not many mods use unittransform.)

@Tiber: Hmm... strange... did the installer (tecnically it's nothing but an auto-extractor for a 7z-compressed file) ask to override files?
The only file in there that could possibly affect normal AoM is the xpacklanguage.dll. (It's impossible to bar-load that one.)
In which case,
1 - We include a copy of the original as xpacklanguage-original.dll
2 - We only added entries to the later few, so it shouldn't have made any difference.

Are you sure you are running aomx.exe for AoM and lta.exe for LTA?

I wonder if your download was corrupted in such a way that the extractor still ran... which would be odd... I'll post an md5 checksum of the file later for people to verify that the download was good. (EaZy, I'll email you what to add into the download thread.)
