Winner of 'Best Campaign' January 2007
Winner of 'Best Modpack' January 2007

The Modders and Mappers of the Liquid Fire Studios: Legends of the Third Age Team Proudly Present....

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

For over 2 years, the Legends of the Third Age team have been working to re-create the first installment of Tolkien's classic Lord of the Rings trilogy in AoM. In this long-awaited campaign, the player follows the adventures of the nine members of the Fellowship in their quest to destroy the One Ring. The scenarios are made to the highest quality by some of the best designers in the community, and will lead the player from the sweeping rural hills of the Shire to the deepest depths of Moria to the wooded ruins of Amon Hen. Complex map design and amazing eye candy will keep gamers coming back simply to watch the brilliantly created cinematics. Even more fantastic is the completely original soundtrack created by a true genius at his craft. From Rivendell to Mordor, Legends of the Third Age: The Fellowship of the Ring brings Middle-Earth alive like never before.

Aside from the excellent scenarios, The Fellowship of the Ring boasts what may be the largest and most expansive modpack in Age of Mythology history. Each weapon is authentic, and gamers will feel the fires of the Balrog and hear the crack of Gimli's axe. Each face of each hero is authentic and detailed, as is every structure in the many exotic Middle-Earth locales. The mods were made by legends in the Age of Mythology community, and the quality does show.

The Fellowship of the Ring has features such as:

- The world of J.R.R tolkein created in AoM for the first time!
- 12 beautiful maps, pain-stakingly made to the finest quality by some of the best Age of Mythology mappers out there.
- The largest and most detailed modpack ever created in AoM!
- Original and never before seen game play.
- Extensive and professional sound track.

===IMPORTANT===
When installing, you extract the extractor to your AOM INSTALL FOLDER,
not the folder you downloaded the file to.
Your AoM install folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\.
It is NOT My Documents\My Games\Age of Mythology.
If you extracted incorrectly, and re-extracted, you must run the
lta.exe inside the AoM folder, NOT the one created from the
mis-extraction.
Please do not pester us about something not working if you did not
extract to the AOM INSTALL FOLDER.
If you are getting an error about rockalldll.dll, you have not
extracted it properly.

Playability: 2
The hobbits die too easily, and plus, they are aggresive, so they rush valiantly into battle, only to be killed. Also, it seems that many different scenarios have been packed into each scenario, maybe to cut down scenario count, but that means that if I play until almost the end of each very long scenario, and I lose, then the work before that would all be wasted.

Balance: 5
Its a very good balance :)

Creativity: 5
Its quite creative :)

Map Design: 4
sometimes, the fellowship find an exact replica of themselves (actually they are used for cinematics), but it is quite annoying to go onto weathertop to find another Aragorn, Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam sitting there.

Story/Instructions: 5
The story is very good, the instructions are clear enough, just that whenever a new objective appears, it says, "New Objective" instead of describing what the new objective says.

Additional Comments:
All in all, this is an extremely good campaign. I enjoyed playing it, though I had to resort to "CHANNEL SURFING" sometimes. I don't like it when the hobbits keep yawning when they were supposed to be talking, and I don't like it when Saruman and Gandalf keep tossing their staffs and swords in the cinematic. In one of the cinematics, Aragorns sword appears to have gone through one of the hobbits' swords. Also, in the Lothlorien cinematic, Gimli asleep appears to have half his body gone through the rock, both his eyes wide open, and bits of his axeblade sometimes appearing through the rock. In the Rivendell cinematic, Frodo was holding his sword even when lying down, piercing a hole in the blanket. I understand it is extremely tedious to make entire new animations for each scenario, but this definately shows that the quality isn't the best. The new units don't have sounds (or at least on my computer). The Ring is actually octoganal (I don't blame you, if the ring were too detailed, it will kill most computers).

All in all, I love this campaign. I tried to make my own scenario on the Helm's Deep war, but due to my extreme ignorance on the matter of making scenarios, I failed to make a single trigger. I placed around 10,000 Uruk-hais and a considerable amount of Elf archers, Rohirrim, etc. Result: due to the extreme number of polygons and pixels of texture, my computer lagged most untolerably, and the computer clock was slowed by around 5 times (I am NOT exaggerating, I placed a god power, and compared the seconds countdown to the second-hand of an analog clock that I held in my left hand). Moral of the story: do not put too many troops. So, I hope that in your campaign, you would be considerate enough to not put too many units on the same map. Maybe split the battle into many different maps or something. I'd rather have a lot of scenarios than have very few extremely long ones ;)
P.S. Maybe I could read a few scenario-making tutorials, and modding tutorials, and make my own mod sometime.
P.P.S. If you took the trouble to read until the very end, I am most impressed by your patience.
LordDanRoberts i havent moved any files but i might have installed another scenario but i did redownload and reinstall but it still doing same thing
Guardian Of Isis "that means that if I play until almost the end of each very long scenario, and I lose, then the work before that would all be wasted."

That's what saving your scenario is for. ;) Nonetheless, our future scenarios will not contain any long scenarios or "scenarios into one scenario" as the first of the LotR trilogy focuses on a long journey rather than battles.

"sometimes, the fellowship find an exact replica of themselves (actually they are used for cinematics), but it is quite annoying to go onto weathertop to find another Aragorn, Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam sitting there."

Weathertop? Impossible. I put an Invisible Wall there and the camera cut that happens when the screen fades to black doesn't show any of the units on Weathertop itself. I just checked.

About the extra swords sticking out: We'll keep it in mind for our future projects. Thank you for your constructive criticism and 4.4 rating. :)

@Dan: Do you get the error when you play other scenarios? If so, I might wanna consider reinstalling if I were you.

porsche_908 Oh, you put an invisible wall there? then it must be the result of me using the "shifting sands" godpower
The God of Gods Lol. ;-)
