Playability: 4
A lot of problems I find with new RPGs online is just the structure of the game itself. Some roads are too wide, making it difficult in finding where your supposed to go next, and some are too skinny which really cramps the game up. This map was perfect in that aspect of playability. Evelation wasn't annoying, the paths were a nice size and they didn't go in one straight spot, they would turn on themselves and other stuff too. Just because I could tell you spent time on this alone gives you a 4. The reason its not a 5 is because its so frikin hard! Lol! Its one of the hardest maps I've played, but I'm glad its that way, this is a breath of fresh air and I have fun every time I play it because I only have to concentrate on the game, not some annoying skinny trail, etc.
Balance: 3
Again, the map is very hard, which is good and bad. The units however are pretty balenced. The murmillo, arcus, and destoryer have their own strengths and weaknesses created 3 very different types of gameplay.
Creativity: 4
The creativity on this map was great. Marble mountains is a very creative name, along with the eyecnayd that came with it. I've only gotten short of the second boss but the first boss was very cool. The stone tartaria spawns, the axemen, it all went together. There were no distracting bits of ridiculouse eyecandy, just what it needed to look nice and make the gameplay great. This map just shows that a map can look awsome without making a super duper awsome overlapped dwarven forgery with a gaint tree in the middle and an upside-down waterfall. The only creative problem is the game itself, mutation, its total different, yet its the same. You have great ideas, you should try to create your own gameplay.
Map Design: 4
I pretty much said everything I wanted to say about map design in the creativity paragraph but I'll touch upon it once again. The map design was great, not over-the-top and not too little. It was enough to make it look great, and enough to keep the playability great.
Story/Instructions: 3
I admire your cinimatic work, and the cinimatic is great, but it doesn't excuse you from the storyline. During the game there was nothing reminding you of the storyline except of the two elephants at the beggining who escaped. The bosses didn't have to do with the story (I think, was the first guy a stone element or something?) and I was just never reminded of the story at all. On a birghter note, atleast you had one.
Additional Comments:
I hope the last paragraph didn't ruin it for you, because this is a great game, a game I actuelly play over and over. Good Game mate!

Hey Cirrius! Thank you for the review. Im glad that you enjoy my map :)
I find the comment about the eyecandy very interesting. I agree with you that a map doesnt need a lot of overlaped buildings and stuff by the like in order to have a nice ambient.
Even more, a map doesnt need a superb eyecandy to be fun. Gameplay should always eat the visual aspect. (fun>graphics) I can can name nottud´s Pit of Doom as an example, wich is a fun game for me and doesnt have loads of eyecandy.
As for the story, you are right. When i was finished the map, i only had 2 free days more before school started again. I was low on time, and to be honest, lazzy to improve the story.
It is meant to be that every boss you fight is one of the Elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire. The Urd Well you see at the intro is where their "souls" where kept sealed. But the main enemy guy releases them again. (I made this lil story based on Squaresoft´s FF IV)
I was planning to have a short cinematic every time you fought a boss, but well... in the end i just finished it. I was eager to test my map!
I was afraid too of making too much cinematics and having people to wait a lot for the action. (NeoMutation 1 intro last 1:30, and this one roughly 1 minute)
So, in the end my fear (and lazziness) maded me to add no cinematic at all, only the intro and the ones for the 3 endings.
Again, ty 4 the review. Have fun!

I'm too lazy to rate it. I would say it's a great scenario, but 2 things -- it's a little too hard and the intro cinematic is too long. Personally I hate cinematics in multiplayer because( unlike other map makers I play more than I design) the cinematics lag the game and bore the players. I think it would be best to release a non-cinematic version along with the regular version so repeat players don't have to go through it over and over again. |

I LOVE how challenging this is, I think it's a little different from normal RPG's, because it's so team based, however, if you work as a team and develop a strategy, the game is playable. I've recently won the game on hard mode with 2 players! (3 players at the start, but one of them died just after the second boss). IMO, the game difficulty is fine how it is, but I suppose not everyone can have a group of friends on their friends list that will readily follow and co-operate with you. (Eg. playing with random noobs will make this a lot harder). Maybe you could put an easy mode to make it easier :(, but if you play this team-based with using strategy's it's definately winnable-even with only 2 people on hard mode. (I am still to do champion mode... I am confident it is beatable though :))
The only real issue I had with the game was the archer... the petrobolis was a really bad idea... the accuracy is pretty bad... and the unit has a minimum range as well. Also, the archer's second last mutation (the pharoah) is actually BETTER than his last mutation (son of osiris). Maybe something could be done to fix this? Me and my friend had to make sure that the pharoah wouldn't mutate to the SoO during the game.
Apart from that, great map, I love how challenging it is, and even though perhaps it is hard, this makes the game even more addictive... I look forward to a neomutation 3 if it ever comes up, keep up the good work! |
