AoM: The Titans |
I tried to do a FH, and I was hindered by the fact that it took me a while to find the hunting, and there wasn't much of it anyway. I played vs. Poseidon, and eventually took him out with a Titan.
How did I do? (I know I'm a n00b. Besides that) What is the most important thing for me to work on right now? |

Note that this is coming from an ISIS player who's average rate is around 1680.
Here's by constructive crticism:
1. You didn't fish. It was a fishing map.
2. You had idle villagers most of the game.
3. You took a long time after making your farms to use rain, and you hadn't even made any more farms in between (so you got to heroic later than you needed to).
4. You took forever to attack. Your forces didn't even come in contact until around the 16 minute mark.
5. You made camels out of your migdol first, which aren't that good in the first place, and I don't believe they countered any of the enemy units.
6. Not enough scouting.
7. There may have been a good reason for this, but why did you make a monument at the beginning? It slowed your eco and didn't let your priest make any obelisks until way later.
8. When he sneak-attacked you with his 5 catapults, you just had your villies stand around, and even tried to rebuild your town center while his catapults were almost RIGHT next to you. You could have used your villagers to destroy the catapults, he didn't even bring any backup.
9. You weren't aggresive enough.
10. I stopped watching when the game was around 35 minutes, and by then you didn't make any elephants.
11. You should have made your seige workshop by your forward base.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
1. You didn't fish.
2. You had tons of idle villagers.
3. You weren't aggresive enough. |

I'm sorry. I did read your comments, and they've been very helpful. I didn't think a reply was necessary.
But now you ask for a reply, I don't quite understand this:
5. You made camels out of your migdol first, which aren't that good in the first place, and I don't believe they countered any of the enemy units.
He was playing Poseidon, and because of my lack of scouting, I didn't really know what his army was, so I made camels assuming he'd have cavalry (it turned out his whole army was hypatists, so CAs would have been much better). And camels are decent units.
Other than that, your comments are completely valid. I'm just a turtler at heart. :-([Edited on 03/25/07 @ 01:57 AM]

lol, I just like knowing that people read my comments. Otherwise, I don't see a point in posting them.
Anyway, about number 5. True, he was playing Poseidon, but that does not mean that he was making cavalry. You should have scouted ahead first. And, even if he did have cavalry, I'm pretty sure Spearmen are more effective against Cavlary than Camels are.
And the problem with camels is this - Chariot Archers and Elephants are better. If you REALLY need a counter to archers (like if he is just spamming them to death) then spam slingers. If he's spamming cavalry, spamming Spearmen is better.
Then again, I play Isis, and if I remember correctly, Ra camels are stronger than Isis ones. Either way, you should have scouted =P.
And about you being a turtler at heart, there's nothing wrong with that, but even a turtler has to be aggresive (if that makes sense). |
