Playability: 4
This map puts you, and a computer, against another computer. However the computer you must face has a premade, and well defended base which you must take over. Very playable, and you have multiple points which to go to for the invasion, the front gate, the left wall, and the right "base". However, you are limited to only the classical age, with a few upgrades from heroic.
Balance: 2
This map, was somewhat an average, "2 decent people must take on 1 heavily fortified person". However, limiting the player to only classic holds distinct disadvantages. Then again(no offense, what so ever) a 7 year old could play this is find a way to win. Simply because the AI, was not aggressive. I spend 10 minutes preparing for in invasion(by the enemy), then just spend the next 15, trying to take down his wonders with medium hoplites, and minotaurs.
Creativity: 4
The creativity of this map overflowed, then quickly washed away. The battle scene, and intro was marvelous. The enemies fort design made me question weather or not to destroy it. The forest was too beautiful to cut down. Sadly though, there was so much more you could have done to make this the most elegant, and picture perfect as it could be. This map's creatively is like the Mona Lisa, but without any background. You have the main picture, and detail, but you are missing the final pieces to make this a beautiful map.
Map Design: 3
The map was at times bland here, and eye candied there. Your partners base, had tents, and an army set up feel to it, while the enemy's fort seeming almost empty, and missing key buildings. But what caught my attention the most, was the middle of the map, the forest seemed life like, with vast amounts of trees, and rocks, and wolves. But a hard hitting factor, was majority of the landscape, was just plain default, and flat. really turned down major potential in this map. A simple tip, is raise, and lower elevation like crazy, then just smoothen it out, for a real life look.
Story/Instructions: 4
Starting off the with beach scene, and taking hold of some of the land held that WWII inspired feel that is always seen in the movies. Then seeing the stronghold, fort Azgul, made you have that feel of tonight, we shall conquer evil. But you left so many more possibilities! I wished to see both General Izonius and General Tiberias speech, after taking over the fort. The story is what made this scenario shine, continue on with it.
Your instructions, were simply laid out onto you, and you can practically assume what to do. Go to the fort, destroy all in your way, and win.
Additional Comments:
This scenario has a perfect story that you could make into a campaign, this must have taken a lot of time for making, and thinking it. You left so many possibilities, and ideas though, which was unfortunate. I know this map is somewhat old, and it could possibly be one of your first maps, but bravo. It was well worth making it, and continue on making more for this story. |
