The Panda Modpack
By Son_Of_The_King
I made this mod as a Polar Bear retexture for a forummer named Parsifal. However, I have decided to release it as a new unit.
This modpack will add a panda to the Place Object list in the editor. It will not appear on Random Maps. Also, an updated xpacklanguage.dll is included (so is the original) which will remove the *** before the unit's name.
Installation
This is simple. Just extract the .zip folder to your main AoM directory, and then copy/paste the contents of 'Panda protox.txt' (found in 'protox' folder in the download) into protox.xml (found in your data folder).

Feel free to use this mod in scenarios, but remember to include the necessary files in your upload or no-one who plays your scenario will see the pandas. Also, if you use this in a scenario, please credit me.
For more detailed installation notes, read the readme.
Enjoy,

For a first modpack, you've done very well. The Panda is a nice unit, and it can be put to use in several settings. The texture is nicely done, and the game modification in itself had no bugs or glitches - that I could manage to find, at least. I also liked the inclusion of a history file, I think those will always add to any mod. So you've done a nice little piece of work here. :)
What keeps you away from a 5, though, is that this panda isn't the most eye-catching unit I've seen. The texture, though good, is slightly undetailed, and the whole unit is just a slight edit of the original Polar Bear. It's just a regular modification.
Too many extra edits could have destroyed the whole unit, though. The Panda, as it is now, is kind of, uhm, cute - and any more editing might have ruined that special feel. So keep the unit as it is.
It would've been fun if a bamboo was included, though, and if the panda could eat that treetype. ^_^
Additional Comments:
But please continue modding, SotK. I've got faith in you - maybe one day you'll make something that will astound even today's top AoM modders? ;)

lol I would have loved to have made bamboo as well. However, I can't model so I guess you'll have to keep hoping someone makes some ;).
Thanks for the reviews btw. |

maybe GoM can lend you the bamboo forest for the Xin Dynasty. And for making it eat stuff you can use the eat power that colossus has in his proto(x). |
