Sveet - Ima check it out
Ok, I've checked out what you've got there and I will review in the next 2-4 days. Just a suggestion don't use microsoft word. It can show information that you didn't want it if your not careful (like the author field, Taris?). Not only that, some people can't open word documents and it also has a serious suck-ass opening time. But put aside the negatives - so far I've only found one; which means a whole lot of positives :D ~ Steak[Edited on 01/17/08 @ 10:12 AM]

"As the example , (Taken from AOEIII) “a matt named kittens” (which is the name of the menu music for TT)"
~Where do you get AOEIII from? A Matt Named Kittens is NOWHERE on AOEIII!!!!!!!!!!!
About the music trick, any computer litterate person would know that by how programs read files. Example, AoM looks for music, it looks in your AoM music directory (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\sounds) and looks for the file with the same name it's looking for (example N.D. Nile). So, if you put your own file there, and rename it N.D. Nile, AoM thinks that it is the real N.D. Nile.) =-)
About the Mountain Battle Scene, that's one beautiful screeny :)
About the backgrounds, I like the original background, so, I never change it.
About the lightning, cool, but, the other people won't be able to see it without the same lightning though, right?

Like when i joined aom, nottud had pit of doom. there was a green lighting and i was thinking "wtf how you do that?" by then i did not have the new editor.
And thanks for the comment on my screenie :)

Overall Rating: 4
Screen Shot: 4.5
This screenshot has a lot of things to keep the eye entertained. It uses many depths of terrain height, from cliff edges to the valley below and even small hills and inclinations within the valley itself. The shot used various terrain types, including water (more on that later), cliffs, roads and various types of grass.
(This is more for the reader that hasn't Downloaded yet) On the more exciting part the shot contained a rich amount of action and little skirmishes happening inside the massive battle. For instance, on the top left of the shot archers can be seen firing down upon the main battle, whilst behind those soldiers are trying to hold back an squad of enemies that charged the hill in hopes of stopping the archers. That is one of the many things that can be seen, some of which contain - ships ready to unload more soldiers onto the field, a phalanx fending of charging enemies, a general charging and leading his remaining troops into battle and many many more.
(more for Shad0w) The many skirmishes were a great addition and really caught my attention from the moment I viewed the piece. I liked the usage of elevation and animations - the water was also nice. Things to improve on:
Lighting - I know, I know - it was customly made and everything, but the bottom line is it just doesn't support the shot in a positive way (it doesn't make it negative either - just average). I know that I've been picking on you for this but the shot will be so much more effective if you pull this off right. For th shot that you have at the moment I would recommend the sun be at a 45 degree angle and the sun should be located around at the North-East.
Water - First of all I would like to say that it is good that you got some water in there to start with, it opens up a world of opportunities. Unfortunately you've seem to have missed out on a lot of them - Whoa! back up a bit, don't get me wrong, what you have done aids the shot immensely as ships delivering soldiers fits into the shot perfectly. But the lack of variety and eye-candy within makes kinda think that there is something missing - or thinking that they could have been more. Get rid of a transport and replace it with a trireme or two. Put some waves crashing against cliffs to support the ones that are already hitting the shore (don't place any more on top of the ones hitting the shore however; as doubling up on waves is horrendous), while your at it, put some limestone and some granite rocks right where the cliff hits the water for a more realistic touch. And maybe some seaweed here and there, again be careful not to overdo it though. Also try to get the sun to bounce off the water, to do that you have to experiment a bit and it can be hard when you are trying to get the right angle for the sun for the rest of the picture as well - if it's too hard don't worry about it, but it's always a plus (remember; you have to have your graphics on high for it to do that).
All in all a great shot that deserves a 4.5
================================================================================
============================== Main Menu Background: 3.5 ==============================
================================================================================
The bottom line; Your main menu background is above average, but a lot of stuff could be changed to make it quite the background.

Things a didn't like:
Waves
~~Doubled up waves - you had the waves doubled up which basically means you had a wave on top of a wave and they where overlapping. It's bad, it was the first thing that I noticed and it was an eyesore. I hated it and I could help but notice it. One wave next to the next wave is sufficient - don't be afraid to overlap waves a little bit, just not anywhere near as much as you did.
~~Disappearing Waves - Your going to hate me for this as you're going to think I am being a perfectionist. Keep in mind that I know that you couldn't really help this without it ruining the background/making the background worse, so this hardly effected your mark - I included it for your benefit on any other maps that you might make.
Two or three waves went through the lighthouse that is attached to the dock and crashed on the shore. I personally hate it when waves 'disappear' when they hit an object as it seems less realistic. To overcome this obstacle look for the indents and outdents in the wave itself and make it 'wrap around the object' if you don't know what I mean check out one of these pictures:

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t140/Khanus_McGee/Number3.jpg
Too Much Screentime/Repetition - This apples to moving objects much more then non moving objects (whether the non-moving objects can move or not). I am talking about the fishing ships - they are constantly moving back and forth doing the same movement non-stop. Get them out of the players view for a while and make them appear (that means they move into the players view not teleport) from a different angle or make them appear separately. mix up they're movements so that they have more than just two.
If your wondering why I'm not criticizing the villagers as well - it's becuase there is so many of them and that they are all in the background that you loose track of whose who. But when there is three fishing boats right in front of you going back and forth - you realize their movements and it gets annoying.
The seaweed was a bit overused but not by a lot so I'll let that slide this time - instead use water reeds (you'll have to place it on land then move them into position - use them as well as seaweed not instead of).
The gate opening and closing got a bit annoying but there's not much you could have done about that without removing it so I'll let that slide aswell.
Another thing you could do is move the water lillies around the leg posts of the docks. Because I don't know about you but I've never seen lilly pads in the middle of the ocean.

Things I liked:
The villages in the background - they move! its fantastic! so many people will just leave them there doing nothing but standing there, but you made them move and without it being to excessive. This would have hard to make it not to much and not to little but you pulled it off great and it made the perfect 'busy city hussle and bussle' ambiance. Again nice job!
The Statute - I loved it up close and personal and it didn't takeover too much of the screen. It fits right in and I liked it. Wouldn't have taken to long to implant either but boy it gives a great effect.
Enemies - nice to spice it up a bit now and again and you pulled it off great. It's good as it is but you could improve on it by changing the types of boats. (you probably already know this but just in case) You must be careful though as some ships may annihilate the city if your not cautious. Keep in mind that one type of ship is okay as well and different types are better but only by a little bit.
Building overlapping - Nice effect that you pulled off well, not much more to say here, I believe that you've blitzed this art.
Rendered sky - Beautiful! adding in a sky is perfect sunset is the only one that covers all of the way down IIRC and it looks like you found that out for yourself :D
I looked at all of your guides and I knew how to do them all already. But I am sure - I actually know for certain that many people out there are yet to know how to change the music files so that they play without the 'sound filename' trigger etc. But I knew them all and I excluded them from the review (it would have brought it down anyway).
Additional Comments:
Wheeew... I haven't done a review that long for quite some time - I hope you enjoyed your beefy review.
Be happy with what you have achieved

Wow...thanks for the awesome review steak! god that you were right out there and told what was wrong.Ill TRY to make better lightings lol and ill attempt better water details for my screenshots.With your review, made me thought im better at calmer backrounds.I can make the cities but it takes a while to make the blabber jabber (many little things like villager location and all that)so that they can be seen nicely.
But i hoped you like the backround anyway. And i used triremes as the attack so theyd suck against the beautiful buildings :)
Well thanks for the review! hope u review more of my stuff coming out soon.
