New Settlers/Riv Civ Map

Author File Description
File Details
# of Players: 8
Version: AoM: The Titans
Alright guys, this is my first Map made and first time uploading, so I hope it all goes right. I've seen alot of guys' stuff criticized for lack of description, so I'll try to break it all down for you.

A Settlers/Riv Civ Map. You start with 6 Villagers and a transport ship. In the beginning you explore until you find a settlement that satisfies you, once you've done that, conquer your enemies or build further however you see fit.

Each Settlement has pros and cons, not all settlements are initially reachable as not all rivers connect. Some settlements start out with free farms for you to use, and there is much fish to be obtained. Each base has many components that make it valuable, for instance: I played my brother just to mini-test and he ended up doubling my score, but my positioning kept me alive for sometime... if i were better I could have won.

sorry, I aint got any... If its possible to put some up after i've posted this i'd be glad to, although I dont believe a screeshot could do the map justice, as it is quite large. Me and my brother however find the map quite attractive in a "nature"-istic sort of way.

Please download and give feedback, and remember its my first one so just let me know what I can do better. I like to improve.

Forbiddian Some things before I review:

1) You've only played this map once, are you kidding? You should play your map MANY times, and play it at least once in EACH starting location.

2) It's prolly not balanced if you played worse than someone else but almost won. Maybe your starting location is strictly better instead of being merely more defensible or something.

3) Go into a game and press ctrl+alt+f12. It takes a screenshot of the entire map (takes about 5 minutes or so). Then post the screenie of photobucket. You might want to turn your graphics settings to medium or low even to make the process faster (and it's hard to see the difference between medium and high quality anyway).

VaxtremeLegacy Hmmm, it's quite a good map but lacking triggers (none at all). It could be improved by putting a ceasefire maybe, and music play definately. For some reason there are Trojan Walls that belong to blue in the corner =/ and when you start you've placed team 1 infront of team 2 so they have to walk a bit longer to their boat. But otherwise good for a 1st map

Forbiddian: Sorry I didn't mean I'd only PLAYED it once, just that this is my first time MAKING it. sorry about any confusion with that.

And it is not unbalanced, as it is up to every person where they start, any poor balancing due to a team getting there first is just the fashion of Settlers.

Legacy: Music, I never noticed but its a good idea. and the walls... ahhh... how did i never notice that?? its a flat out mistake.

i'll fix it all and update for you because thats a nonsense mistake i can't believe i missed.
Forbiddian Ah... no, it's a huge balance issue when some spots are better than others.

That gives players who have played the map a massive advantage over players who are new to the map and makes the whole experience less fun even for players who know the map.

Some sides can have different strengths and weaknesses (like one side might be much easier to get to, allowing you 30s + to develop whereas another side is harder to get to but gives enough starting hunt to last into heroic), but no matter where they start, players should be able to win.

I mean, you're making a multiplayer map. It's not hard to make it fair, and it makes the game MUCH more enjoyable if you can compete with opponents at your level without getting totally outclassed by some noob who happens to know the best starting location (i.e. you, the host).
