ok, so one day i was very bored.. and i had not played around with the editor much so i got to work. i had played river civilzation for the first time that day and i was inspired. i used many different types of terrian and in all there are about 10 islands. this map has been tested online and it has a tendency to have problems if taunts are used excessivley. this my first time using triggers and 1 of my first few maps i have made, it is also my first submission. if you find something wrong with it, or something i can do to spice things up a bit please tell me (politley) what i should do. thanks and ps. comment rate the usual =) |

sorry... i forgot a good description. each player starts out with 4 atlantean hero villagers, a regenerating hero like arkantos or amanra and not quite enough resources for a town center. all the islands are pretty balanced and each one is loaded down with resources and since it is a 6 player game theres usually going to be 4 or 5 extra islands, plus the islands are quite large. the only advantages i can think of is that at the back of the map there are big fishing holes, at the front of the map the ocean is filled with fish, the egyptian islands have the most resources, and the hades/tundra island is very defensible. all the rest of the islands are pretty normal, every island has atleast 4 gold mines, plenty of huntables, herdables, and 2 or more forests |

Playability: 4
Definitely playable. Lots of space for buildings, just enough settlements. however I think the rivers were a bit to narrow. Like ships can be easily clumped and river passes can be easily guarded by towers.
Balance: 3
Simply balanced, like most civs but heres where some people may go wrong. Sure everyone has a hero but the heroes do vary in stats. Also the placement of fish. Someone can have mass food storage by sitting in one corner and the other people will starve.
Creativity: 3
Not too creative. Like most you get the villagers, build and destroy. Maybe you could put some more "pazzaz" in by adding in random events or secret passages and things throughout the map.
Map Design: 3
It was Ok. Could of been better. Like For one the clouds in the caves. not really realistic. Mist would make it like that with a better cave feel. Unless you were trying to make an unroofed rock tunnel. (Ditch?)
Story/Instructions: 5
As any smart player would know. "I see villagers, I see a boat. better move em" Simply just logic explains it.
Additional Comments:
Good overall, could be better though. Pretty good though as a first submission. Also personally, I liked it, it was fun.

thanks for the good review! is a 4 good? and idk what i was aiming for with the hades cave thing... its just whatever you think it is. but i like adding caves so if i ever make another settlers/civ map i'll do fog instead and, the fish actually are balanced because when i was testing i observed most people tended to choose the front where the fish are, which led to much early archaic/classic age fighting while an adventourus few took more time to get all the way to the back, where the others will have already started building.[Edited on 07/17/08 @ 09:33 AM]

The scale is from 1-5. So yes, 4 is good. |
