X-Wing Fighter

Author File Description
Stephen Caines
File Details
Version: Both
This mod is meant primarily for the various Star Wars modding projects. It includes the various anim, data info, models and textures as well as the full set of GMax files.

The open/closes transition is still a bit clunky. Their is also an unanimated version if you need to add to it.

To install:

move the five .brg files from the models folder to your AoM/Models folder

move the .ddt file from the textures folder to your AoM/Textures folder

move the two _anim files from the anim folder to you AoM/anim folder.

The info in the protox info and unittransform info will need to be included in the respective files.

Depending on if you use an edited xpacklaguage.dll you will need to delete/amend the relevant proto references.

Shad0w_Hawk Dude... This rocks! The model is perfect and the texture is quite detailed! Although this one is not complete, its visual is still pretty good.
And yea the "opening" is still a bit clunky but I think you people can figure out something.
Anyways keep up the good work!

Edit: One problem, it has more than 4000 polys.
But we already had a model of one so it's ok, we can use your textures and stuff but we'll have to use our model. Thanks!

newb27 Very nice looking, haven't tried it yet, but it looks cool. How many polys and bones can AOM support without lagging in the first place? 4000 seems much looking at many of the average models.
Gilraen Stephen Caines you're a genious!
I can't even edit a model not to create one!

It has a lot of verts but no- (or not many-), frames. For example it is about one-third of the size of the average Mumakil model, and one-fifth the size of the average Witch King on Fell Beast.

P.S. The credit really goes to the guy who made the paper cut out models of Star Wars fighters (see http://3do.jediknight.net/dcm/construct.htm). I discovered it while trying to find carboard cut-outs for the kids, but realised it was exactly the sort of artwork required for a model.

@Gilraen - I'm not really (a genius), but thanks anyway. Of 22,000-odd downloads of my work, you are the 56th person, who has taken the time to post a rating (actually as some people have posted more than one rating, your are in an even more select group!). As one of the 0.25% who takes the time to comment positively (or at all), I can assure your futute requests and criticisms will be taken far more seriously.

Master_Foozle I like it except for the lagggg.. you can't have huge battles with it.

@URD_Foozle - Other than the clunky transition between x and flight modes, what is the lag??

Athens_2008 if u put 20 X-wings in the same thing it lags alot cuz of 4000 poly or so...or atleast thats what im thinking..

BTW:when i play tested it it couldn't attack... i wanted to make huge battle xD

EDIT:i knew that but when i tryed to make them attack ea other they couldnt so i tryed a ground unit and it shoots but does no damage.

@Athens_2008, at the moment in only attacks when in attack formation (open wings) but is faster when its wings are shut.
