** This Scenario will only work with Legends of Middle Earth Release 2.21 **
As hard as we tried, the Legends of Middle Earth: The Two Towers scenarios has been delayed (not by much we hope). As a compromise I will release my first ever scenario. It is a cross between Random Map play and RPG scenario. If it gets good reviews I will keep going.
The Story
Frodo realises he must leave the Shire, but before doing so the Shire must be defended from the allies of Mordor grouping to the North and South. From his base in Hobbiton he must secure the main town centres of the Shire.
The Shire has plentiful supplies of food and wood, but to build his strength he needs the support of all the villages across the Four Farthings. In particular the town of Longbottom, where he can gain access to the cherished long-leaf plantations that will ensure a steady supply of gold.
The hobbits of the Shire can only build Town Centers, but once they are built they provide access to the resources and buildings surrounding these villages.
Alas, securing the Shire will not stop the forces of Mordor, but it will allow Frodo and his companions to escape (with your help) - with just a glimmer of hope that they will one day return.
The Hobbits showed themselves to be a race of courage and fortitude. This initial defense of the Shire will demonstrate your ability to travel with them through the rest of their Adventures in Middle Earth.
At times, the challenges will seem insurmountable, but if time is running out, turn to the book!
====
For those of you wanting to add a rating - just remember it is my first ever posted scenario (Guardian won't let me do the real ones). However, I am very keen to try and combine both RPG and Random Map components of the game.
If you like this, in Episode 2, the Rangers need to defend the North, while Frodo et al, navigate the Barrow Downs to reach Bree.
Edit: 5 November 2008 - added a new version. More Shire stuff and another set of Trolls with Siege Ram in the North. You will need to move the two .mp3 files in to your sounds/lta/music folder to get the sounds for the new opening cinematic.
The Campaign stuff is there because it will be needed shortly.
At present it is just links to files called
LTA Fellowship of the Ring.cpx
LTA The Two Towers.cpx
LTA The Return of the King.cpx
Adventures in Middle Earth.cpx
Adventures in Middle Earth2.cpx
respectively.
If you have downloaded the LTA FOTR Campaigns you will have the first of these, and the second will come with the Two Towers, when the scenarios are released shortly.
The Adventures in Middle Earth one is for the ones I am working on (this post being the first). I will release the .cpx shortly(probably when TTT goes public) and I have a few more scenarios done. Note is you are interested just email me and I will send the .cpx and the second installment (Fornost) for testing.
The Adv in Middle Earth II button, is for PoleRBear's proposed campaign (if it proceeds).
It is just easier to add it in now rather than worry about it later.
Sorry again if this was confusing!
Regards

I'd love to review this scenario- I think it's excellent. Unfortunately, I can't because i dont think it'd be fair to review a senario that my ai file is not working for. Great job with it. By any chance, do you know what "Could not compile ai2 Lomeai2balanced" or something like that would mean, and how it would be fixed?
