Oh damn what to say. Well most of you have probably noticed I have submitted alot of games. Most of my games are meant for my good buddy EM_Aflay, or Alfay here on AoM Heaven.
This battle was indeed a rated. Within the first 15 minutes, I felt so much like crap. My score was far lower than his throughout the first 15 minutes or so. Then I hit Heroic Age and turned this whole battle around. My score started being on top, dominating his, and I managed to beat this person.
In the beginning of this game, I thought it would be nice to make a dock on the bottem side. I get down there and my Laborer becomes nothing more than an burnt carcass. That did not make me too happy. I sent yet another Laborer to the death zone and then me and the other guy had a Villager/Laborer fight. That was fun until I brought my Pharoah down and beat him up good.
Doing what he did, (building docks near the enemy) has some ups and downs (good and bad things). The good thing for the person building your docks near the enemy, is that it makes it hard for your enemy to gather the fish near his/her dock. The downfall of building a dock near your enemy, is the time required to move the unit to the other side of the map, and then build on that side.
Throughout the first 15 minutes I felt so discouraged about this battle, I thought I was going to lose horribly. In rated games however, I never resign unless I am 110% sure I will not win. We both advanced, me before him. Had he not caused me to waste so much time, my advance would have been better. When playing as Isis or Set on a water map, ALWAYS choose Anubis. Anubis' God Power "Plague of Serpents" works on both land and water, as shown in this Recording. The God Power when used on land will attack Civilians, (Villagers, Laborers, Gatherers, and Dwarves. Caravans?) however, when used on water, the snakes will only attack Military Units, not Fishing Ships.
I gained control of the water, he thought he would be clever and build on the other side. Well, he ran out of luck, I too thought it would be clever to build on the other side, but he was there too. Once again I won the water. Both sides are now mine. I did not spam boats in the water, they would have taken up to much population.
Even with the loss of the water, he still managed to be doing better than me. I still felt pretty much like crap. Then I advanced up, and my luck changed.
In this recorded game, I made a mistake. As you should know, all of the Civilizations need favor for Fortess, Migdol, and Hill Fort. I had not made any Monuments, which is very bad.
Sorry for this long intro for this Recorded Game, but I always try to give people and idea of what happened in the games I post, and what I might have done wrong, or what the other guy might have done wrong. These are probably so long, no one reads them, am I right?
If anyone out there (who still plays this game) wants to learn how to play as Set,or Poseidon, I would reccomend watching my games. From what I have seen, there is no one else that uses Set...makes me sad. |
