The Great Battle (updated for content)

Author File Description
File Details
Version: AoM: The Titans
I designed this map because I decided that fighting battles and winning wars with thirty to sixty men was something that wasn't done. It was generally done with thousands of men. But due to the limitations of modern processors and map size thousands of Greeks assaulting thousands of Egyptians is not really easy.

So here, I designed and built two armies of a couple hundred men apiece (I didn't count them), and two castles for defense.

This map boasts my first published cinematic, four different difficulty SETTINGS, not different maps, this is just like the campaign. It also boasts quite a few triggers, four possible reviving units for the player, and more.

Here you will find all but a few of the Greek heroes (Only one campaign hero), gobs of myth units, the chance to kill a guardian, modified titans, and even a super hero. My Sexy Assistant makes a show in this map, as she did in the last, and as always she kicks ass.

There is a readme, for info on where to place the folder, but there are no cheats this time.

You may need to Download the Admiral AI for the game to properly work... Sorry y'all. Didn't know that before hand.

Actually dude, Thanks, that's the best review I've ever gotten.

However, if you've noticed the Bellerophon unit? He gets back up, So will the cataphract unit. The one in your city on easy and moderate? They were supposed to be that way. The Priest of Isis was named priest of Isis after his first death. He's the equalizer for your reviving heroes. :)

And it would have had more instructions as to the victory, but I got told they were too repetitive. So... Basically you destroy the temples and monuments. And besides, that's what the hints are for. The Obie (Objective) tells you what to do, and the hint tells you how.

As to the walls...yours will do it too.

Due to the triggers, you can't win by destroying a citadel. Once you've destroyed it you have the trigger queing on the settlement, and you can't destroy that.

But thanks! That's my highest score ever!
question oh!
But unfortunately I'll have to delete it unless you extend it to 3 lines per category.

Xzyiothe Pretty sure I told *someone* how to fix the is dead for settlements/citadels, just slap a cinematic block in the middle and run a units in area on it.

(For some reason it stopped at 'someone' because of my little emphasis, I blame this heaven for the edit.)

Ah, thanks Xzy. I don't think I've ever heard that. Simple enough though...
Khan And Steak I'm pretty sure that 1 unit in AoM is representative of 10 units of that type, just fyi :). Like 1 Ulfsark is actually 10 Ulfsarks, the exceptions are heroes and myth unit of course :) ~ Khan

Would you rather have your cavalry in front of the mummies, Azur?

What was random about Sexy?

As for map design...I tried. Understand that three months ago there was no such thing as eyecandy to me. Grass A.

Manouvering was part of the game. And I have no idea how to make the AI more aggressive. When I try something other than the default AI, it tells me there's some sort of fault and never loads it, so I end up with an AI-less enemy.

And how would I give the player the incentive to explore? It's ingrained into me... I also didn't want a crowded map. There were alot of men you had to move around.
CharlieDog I have to disagree with you, Azur fire, when I was playing the computer's army attacked me... I really enjoyed this map. Sorry I haven't wrote a rating yet (cant be bothered) I will sometime soom :P
Azur_Fire Well as I said I only tried it twice, so perhaps it does it every so often, but I spent the first few minutes tasking my villages, and during that time both armies just sat there.

For the incentive to find other places I suggested having side quests/tasks or something of the like...

There are now unit work triggers. There will only be three villagers you have to task. These are the three that come out of your Town Center.
