AoM: The Titans |
This is a short, small, scenario about a Holy man who has traveled many miles upstream to find out why it has stopped flowing. He has no arrived at it's source, the Spring of the Gods. There he discovers it has been dammed, and he must raise an army to defeat the Water hog.
He joins forces with BAST (an avatar of the goddess), a small squadron of mercenaries, a handfull of priests and two Pharoah brothers.
He must fight off the water hog, defeat the armies, and free the water, to allow it to flow down its natural riverbed to the hundreds of villages downstream.
This map boasts, objectives, four difficulty settings, three cinematics, and the Baddest Badguy on the Block.
YOu are free to check out the triggers, and learn about cinematics, objectives, and reviving regular units using a trigger string.
But a warning, any one of your units can die, five will revive, but if all five of these are dead at the same time, you will lose. |

Playability: 3
The playability got a 3 because, to be honest, the scenario did not really keep my interest. It did not have any stand out features that made me want to keep playing(I did though so I could give you the review). When you found the extra units to join you(eg. the mercenaries), you did not have to perform any quests, making it pretty boring overall. Your units did not have any special moves, which took away form the fun and the boss was just hack at the titan for five minutes until he dies. When making a scenario or boss battle, try and think of some new concepts, even if the scenario was just for the hell of it.
Balance: 3
All over the map, there were wadjets, though too far apart to be any use too eachother. That made them pretty easy pickings for the Son of Osiris that you control. And that happened even more so as you collected followers. The priests could take out whatever they needed to as they were all myth units. Even at the Boss, you had no trouble defeating him. Easy pickings.
Creativity: 3
Well the whole idea of the scenario was a great idea, but your creativity was marked down because of the lack of any special moves or unique scenario features. Any new ideas would have been acceptable. You could have used chat contains to make an easy healing spell. And for the mercenaries , priests and Bast, you could have made mini quests,(eg kill at least 5 wadjets). That would have made the experience more enjoyable.
Map Design: 3
The map design was decent, though there were no stand out features. The only thing I really took notice of was the mercenary base. It was decently constructed and added a bit of theme to the area. The river was crafty, though it could have been better designed. Spend a bit more time on it.
Story/Instructions: 4
Well the instructions were clear: Kill the Water hog. As I mentioned before, I loved the story idea, it was very well thought out. The story was told in a decent manner and explained what was going on. It was also presented quite well. Good job in this section.
Additional Comments:
I liked the scenario, but it was not really a highlight. Keep making scenarios and listen to other designers advice. Good luck! |
