Battle Ground

Ephraim 1. Extract both Battle Ground files to the rm
subdirectory within your AoM directory.

2. Start AoM as usual, select Single Player==>Random
Map and then select the Culture or the Myth Civ
and the random map Battle Ground.

3. The script will generate a map environment
determined by the first non-Gaia
player culture. If you choose an Egyptian culture
or Civ the script will generate a sand-desert-palm
map, The Norse culture will generate a snow-forest-
snowy pine map. The Greek culture will generate
grasslands with rolling hills with pine forests.

4. Both the Battle Ground Normal and Large rm scripts
produce large map areas with the AI opponent
usually at the opposite side of the map. This will
permit more time for you to build your economy and

5. There is a moderate sized "open" area in the
middle of the map, most of your battles will occur
here. The abandoned settlement in the center of
the map has an additional 3 or 4 large gold mines
which are defended by mythical creatures. Your AI
opponent will usually battle you for possession of
this area.

6. The AI forces are at a greater distance and in
most games will not aggressively pursue early
attacks; however, midgame and endgame battles will
be challenging.

7. Due to the available resources and prudent use of
caravans on this map, it is not unusual for the
non-Gaia player(s) to achieve Mythic Age level
during the midgame and develop all of the
available improvements before the endgame.

8. Early exploration of the immediate adjacent
areas is recommended. Find the gold, relics
and locate herd and huntable food. Some berries
and huntables are close by for initial food
harvesting; however, there are no chickens on this

9. Plan your strategy based on the random map
layout. There may be several choke points,
and with appropriate walls and towers, you can
channel your opponent into the battle
area of your choosing.

10.Good sound strategy will prevail over a larger
opponent. It is not unusual for the AI opponent,
at the "Hard" level, to have a greater score and
larger military force during most if not all of
the game.

11.With a sound economy plan (vils, gold and TCs),
superb strategy, control of the central area
(Battle Ground) and the center settlement you will
be victorious.

ReD_FiRe_ReD This seems like a cool map, but unfortunaly, it will not work for me... it does not show up in the random map menu, and in the editor, when generating it, it says map unable to load or somtihng.... needs fixed...
Roland Rushmore There is a problem with the .xml file -- DO NOT download this rm -- Download the revised Battle Ground rm script -- it works
