Triple Oasis

Author File Description
kalmafan It has been a while since my last upload, but here I am again with a new eyecandy map!

This map exists mainly of three oases which form a triangle together. All kinds of creatures come to the place to rest and drink. Zebras, Gazelles and... humans! Another thing about them is that they might be magical! Strange obelisks can be found, though no humans permanently live there... at least not anymore, for south of the the Oases there are mysterious ruins.

This for the Titans only!
This only for show, therefore it is NOT playable!

Feedback is greatly appreciated

Pretty nice eyecandy. I'll start with the good-you had some really nice mixes of rock and water reeds by the water. I also liked the terrain you used to represent the water-rich area. Finally, the little mini-camp you placed by one of the oasises looked great-it was simple and small but looked well-prepared for the harshness of the desert heat.

Now, for the criticisms. First, some of the animals probably wouldn't fit into the desert-like environment. I wouldn't have put in the crocs or the apes probably-you still had plenty of animal variation without em'. Also, I would've spruced up the bottom of the oasis with more plant life and maybe a few more rock. I'd also mix in some different terrains down there too.
The biggest issue, though, was the wide empty desert around the oasis. I would've put in some sprites and maybe a rock or two along with some more dust devils. The big thin is that there was too much sand A-actually, the dune should've been mostly a mix of sands c and d, with only a little A and B. I also would've stuck in some minimized grass once it was getting closer to the oasis but still sand-not much, just a few very little spruces. Also, the far...eastern side of the map was a little empty in the grass-dirt areas. Besides that though, the terrain mixing and embellishment was great.

My final gripe-the ruins didn't really look "ruinic". They looking more like a very, very old civilization with some weird cult that lives there in secret. Yeah. Strange take on it, but it didn't really look destroyed enough. I would've stuck in some minimized rubble piles and found some cinematic destroyed temples to replace the un-harmed ones. True, ruins don't have to be destroyed, but 90% of the time they're at least half-razed to the ground. Oh-and get rid of the eternally burning fires. Creepy.

Additional Comments:
Pretty nice eyecandy. I came away fairly impressed with your skills- they're pretty good. I hope you can start working on a project soon and put them to good use.
