Inspired by Thymole's Star Ship Ultra and loosely based on Space Invaders.

Marvel at the couple of hours worth of work

Blast your way through 10 waves of increasingly fast myth units

4 Difficulty levels determine enemy speed

Play entirely within cinematic mode

Move left and right with the arrow keys

Fire your Boar Missile with the space key

I encourage anyone who wants to make similar games to open Myth Invaders in the editor and copy as much as you find useful. In fact, feel free to edit the Myth Invaders scenario to your liking - different units, faster waves, etc. If someone creates a sufficiently entertaining variation they want to share, please upload it, just make sure to include a link back to the original i.e. this one :)

Playability: 4
The playability was good, I liked the way everything was controlled by hotkeys and how simple the game was. It was very intresting to play and I thought it was fun.
The only thing I didn't really like was the movement, sometimes it seemed a bit jumpy and the movement of my fire siphon wasn't really smoth. Overall I think it was a good scenario that everyone should try.

Balance: 4
The balance was really good considering how hard it must be to balance one of these scenarios. I liked how the speed changed a little for every level, and the scenario got harder for each level as it should. At level ten I kept failing though, and it got rather annoying to lose at the same level over and over again. Maybe you could, instead of increasing the units speed so much add more units, or something that'd help balance it.

Creativity: 5
Well, what can i say? This is one of the most creative scenarios we have in the DL section now, and it was a really unique idea. I really like how the units are changed after each level, and many of them look like aliens. :P
I like how everything was controlled by hotkeys, which I liked.

You also implemented this game very well in Age of Mythology, looks a lot like the actual game.


Map Design: 3
The map design was very good functionally, but it didn't really have a lot of details or eyecandy.
The map looked like space and the units could move in the right directions easily, but at the same time I felt there were many things that could have been done differently. For example I think you could add some more emblishament, and I think it would be cool to see the moon sometimes, like it was moving in an orbit around the earth.

Story/Instructions: 4
The story is very simple, but that doesen't mean it's bad. I would still have liked a story cinematic other than the instruction one, telling the story in more detail and perhaps adding some unique elements to the story. The instructions are really easy to understand and there wasn't anything unclear in the scenario. The objective was simple, and I liked that anyone could understand and play this scenario.

I have to say I wasnt sure what I was xpecting when I downloaded this. I envisioned my forces in a forest are soemthing fighting of waves of myth units. I figured, what the heck, ill give it a shot (neglecting to look at the pic, for some reason). VERY fun and simple.

Balance: 4
Balance here, was just a tad off, just due to the fact that I actually found that the only hard waves for me was the first (probably mainly because It was new at first) but the bastard on the left kept doding me lol. And the lasty two waves nearly got me. But all in between were a breeze. Which did get minorly boring.

Creativity: 5
This deserves a 6, in my opinion. It was MAGNIFICENT idea. Simple, yes, but great. I love the trigger work. And It confused me until I looked at the map in the editor and saw that it wasn't to complicated. Amazing trigger work and ideas indeed.

Map Design: 5
Once again, jaw dropping, for me. The map wasn't the part im talking about here, I know its simple. But I loved the view of the camera, its like playing space invaders all over again in a unique and fun way.

Story/Instructions: 4
Well not much story, so i couldn't truly give it a 5. But the instructions were quite simple. Space bar is fire, left and right arrow keys move your 'ship' left and right.

Additional Comments:
Great map that im sure to keep and play many times. Which i normally play maps and delte them afterwards cas i dont feel like playing through them again. Good game, and simple enough to be enjoyed by everyone.

As soon as I finished several hours playing this, here's my review:

Playability: 5
This mini game is greatly enjoyable! It's a simple game where you just have to eliminate approaching myth units with missile boars. Since the game is just short and provides great moments in gaming despite its simplicity, it has a high replayability value and I may play more of this some day. Such games can overcome one's boredom. In other words, the game is just short and simple yet entertaining. So far I did not encounter any bugs.

Balance: 4
Well, the four difficulty settings should provide a fine answer to the game's balance. In other words, anyone can play it just to have a good time. There's the easy level for the first timers, moderate for those who wants more challenge, Hard for one who has played this game on a career mode (I was one!) and Titan for extreme gaming challenge experience (I tried several times, but never made it past wave 8). Well, I can give this a good balance yet imperfect because based on my experience, I felt like a jackass when I played Hard and Titan (I was a bit disappointed until I finished it even just on Hard) and later realized that I should just played lower difficulties. Just in my opinion, only Titan should be the difficulty that's almost impossible to finish.

Creativity: 5
The concept of the game is really creative! When I played this the first time, I can't imagine such scenarios can be played on AOM. Even some of my friends who saw me playing this asked me what game it is and they can't believe it's AOM! Just an incredible idea. AOM is an RTS game, which was transformed to a mini game!

Map Design: 4
Well, for a mini game, the map is designed just right. There's this world on the lower right of the game screen, and the scenario occurs on the outer space where aliens (or the myth units in this case) are attacking. To sum it up, the map is just simple yet detailed enough for the player to know that the setting is on outer space. The map is just right, since more map details and embelishments could cause the enemies harder to be aimed at, thus ruining the game.

Story/Instructions: 4
The instruction is clear on the start, which is to eliminate the ten waves of monsters in order to win. However, there is not much of a story here, which is not really necessary for mini games, but could be included. The controls are clearly listed in-game.

Additional Comments:
A very simple map, yet entertaining! I liked this map since it provides great challenge. Imagine how a game with only three main buttons as controls could give the player a good time in gaming! I played this game for nearly 8 hours, and the only highest difficulty I've won is the Hard, and I felt I just won by chance (meaning I may or may not do it again) and as mentioned above, I felt slightly disappointed losing...) Yet overall, when I look back at the time I invested time to play this, I had fun which greatly dominated my slight disappointment of losing. It's worth my gaming time.

Also, I wish that the game can be paused..

I recommend everyone to download this. But be warned: If your the kind of person who hates to lose (like me), play on the lower difficulties). This is a simple map which is greatly enjoyable. This is one heck of a chance to have a different AOM experience!

Before I end, can I just ask perp noob if he has managed to play and successfully finish Hard and Titan?
