AoM: The Titans |
Astrological Design Presents;
Updated again. Version 4
I think I started this map a few months ago, basically trying out an idea for a castle. It was an eye candy test. Took me a few hours. The other day I was looking through my maps to find one I'd just downloaded, and found this map. I opened it to see what it was, and decided that I needed to finish the map just for posterity.
I've been working on it ever since. I've added armies of Myth units that attack the Castle, and as the game goes on these armies will get larger, as the game goes on, you get more heroes, etc. etc.
Featuring:
All three of the Greek Special units (myrmidon, gastraphetes, and Hetairoi).
You start out in the Mythic age
There are the four difficulty settings,
Only the one initial cinematic,
A respawning relic, take it and another will appear in it's place,
Some interesting eyecandy,
A fight built to suit the defensive player who doesn't mind an adrenaline rush from fighting fifty myth units at a time,
All the good campaign heroes (Kemsyt, Gargarensis, and Kamos aren't available).
Eventually you'll get to fight a Titan (Never played it that far; that's 8000 seconds in).
Two SoO, and twelve priests,
Sexy Assistant is available (If you have the Cheat Code)
An end, based on how many units killed, more for higher difficulty,
Things that have been fixed:
The heroes are a little more reliable in appearing now I think.
The ending works now. 1500 kills for easy, 3000 kills for medium 4500 for hard, and 6000 for Titan. Expect Titan to take a few hours.
Added
Huntables,
Another secret Objective,
Heracles added to the heroes that teleport in (Don't know how I managed to forget him the first time)
Changed
The Shades now do more damage to Myth units. But beware, the humans that die for you to get shades may well destroy your walls.

Are you sure there's an end to this?
I am playing for 4 hours (Titan difficulty)and nothing seems to change with the game. I continuously withstand their attacks, then I replenish---- I guess this is a never- ending cycle. When I checked my kills, it was almost 10K, still no victory for me...
And also, can you put an indication if I am halfway to achieving the required numbers to kill?
However very nice scenario... A challenging one! I just hope that the required number to kill will just be lesser, this is consuming too much time...
OR maybe you can just change the objectives--- instead a required number of kills, make the player survive a span of time instead.[Edited on 08/04/10 @ 11:06 PM]

There should be an end to it... I mean... I never made it past one hour fifty some odd minutes. I'm rather surprised you made it so far.
The Armies will never stop coming until the game ends. And the they will always get bigger. The game will eventually lag your computer out when you get a few hundred units per army. So... If I were you... I'd stop playing it after a couple hours. I'll see what I can do to fix the thing.
It's only supposed to be a few thousand bad guys before it's over. So... |

By the way, I realized something else... When I was playing the game last night for about an hour and got sleepy, I just saved my game. When I woke up I just loaded it, and noticed that the Myrmidon and Hetairoi aren't available anymore. I think that loading of the game caused the scn to malfunction, that's why the game didn't stop even if I killed almost 10K units. Anyway I might try it again without saving and loading. And if it's really the problem, hope you can fix it.
Also, even if I made it that far, Titan did not show up. But my heroes are continuously spawning from the circle surrounded by 4 torches. |

Playability: 2
When I was playing this it was fun but there wasn't much to die besides killing the enemy and getting food, gold, wood.
Balance: 3
The enemy monsters get stronger and more hp but it very easy to survive there attacks.
Creativity: 4
This map was a very creative but maybe it might look better with like fortified walls maybe the castle should be bigger?
Map Design: 4
The map design is so great, but you can put more trees, and embeleshiments.
Story/Instructions: 5
The Instructions were easy to follow.
Additional Comments:
This map is fun and the castle looks good but,I think it should include more enemy monsters.[Edited on 08/12/10 @ 02:29 AM]

based on my experience, even if i got a score of 8K or nearly 10 K (for titan difficulty), the game did not end. because of that, i got somehow frustrated because i think there is no way to win it.
Balance: 4
i like the concept that the myth units get stronger as the game goes on, which provides great challenge.
Creativity: 5
i really like the concept of the game which is battling against myth units and defending a well fortified castle from them. good job!
Map Design: 4
the map is just simple. i understand why a large percentage of the map is just grass---- it is to let the myth units arrive at your base quickly. i guess that if there would be forest, it could have delayed their arrival. overall, the map design is just fine
Story/Instructions: 3
The in game instructions explains the mechanics of the scn. very well. i guess you only forgot to mention (in the main game) that you need a certain amount of kills. it is only mentioned here at aom heaven. i think it would have been better if you elaborate the objectives in the main game because "Survive" is the only written main goal in the game.
Additional Comments:
well i tried the scn again without saving and loading and got a kills of 8K, and still no victory. (i'm playing Titian difficulty)i guess there really is a bug in this scn. hope you can fix it. if i were you i would work to fix this, because this is REALLY a good scn, disregarding the fact that it can not be finished. my base has been destroyed then i quit then i saw my score of 8K. i am really interested in this scn that's why i have sacrificed more than 2 hrs to check whether this could be finished or not. kindly check if the victory condition for titan is really working. i wouldn't have tried it that far if i did not appreciate your scn and enjoyed it a lot. overall good job, i only hope you can fix this "no victory problem"

to get my point straight, i just hope that there would be an end to this scenario, nothing else. i can consider this as one of the perfect scenarios, only that no matter how hard i tried, how many kills i get, still no victory. honestly i really love playing this that's why i got that far, but of course every game deserves an achievable end.
i suggest that you try playing this with the titan difficulty on your own and see whether the scn will end or not once you meet the req no. of kills. If you can't make it that far, try to lessen the req. no. of kills for the titan for you to know if you have set the scn triggers correctly.[Edited on 08/10/10 @ 03:56 AM]

There is supposed to be an end to the scenario. I even checked all the triggers. On easy it's 1500 kills, on medium it's 3000, on hard it's 4500, and on Titan it's 6000.
I've tested the titan, setting it to a lesser time limit (I was incorrect earlier about it being a few k kills in... it's a time limit) and they just started spamming in.
But, no matter how I try I can't get past two hours and maybe four hundred kills.
But! I thank you for the compliments, I will keep trying. |
