*** FINISHED VERSION ! ***
Download it now !

Thanks to Mythic Studios Members who helped me playtesting and giving me ideas for this game, especially BSU_DoLhades, Majic_Dodo, Scragins and Marauder. Thanks guys !

Dropped into an unknown world after choosing your rank, you are now engaged into an epic quest that will draw your future. Will you join the Imperial Army and help them finding what's going on all over the world or leave them and fight as a lonely hero against other players ? You choose !

16 heroes able to pick and make, alone or with the number of friend you want, this epic journey throug this world named Memories. Each Rank has his own abilities that you will have to learn while playing the game. After many games you will surely find out which best fits you. Or maybe would you like to try all the heroes during a continuous hosting game week. Everything depends on you.

The game is based on a totally new concept called the free roaming moving gameplay. With your fellowship or all alone, you can explore the world and meet the NPC that will talk to all the human players. Some quests will give rewards for all the players, but some will give to the player that would done it...

Explore unknown regions, find lost and haunted dungeons, perform missions on behalf of a strange coalition, encounter formidable enemies, fight against the deadliest hordes you can meet in all the RPG. Last, but not least, develop fighting strategies with your friends to defeat the strongest bosses of the game.

Hello you all, you are about to download Children of Memories. The map is 100% done, triggered and terrained by me and it took me many months to finish the FINAL version of this map.

If you want to Review the map, please don't take care of the bugs/problems you can meet because it has NOT been seriously playtested yet. And all the bugs you will meet will surely be fixed in the next version.

You can also report in the Showcase what problems you found when you were playing.

Player 1 to 6 : Team 1
Player 7 : Team 2
Player 8 : Team 3

I am working on version 2.0 which will contains :
- Ability to increase minions stats.
- New spells for Magus classes and Thief.
- More quests for Thieves Guild.
- Adding Warriors Guild, Magicians Guild and Assassins Guild.

I'm also looking for someone that could add 2 more player to make it 8 players (which will be version 3.0). He will have to work on it with the curret trigger system and will have many things to do so please don't ask me if you don't have much time. This work could take a month to be done.

"Finally a RPG where the point isn't to kill random stuff and break walls everytime you done a fight."

I would never say enough, but THANK YOU to everyone who helped making this map during the playtests and gave advices. Thank you so much.

Very playable, not many bugs. You just cant get rid of the birds in a team of no ranged players :(

Balance: 4
Some of the heroes i think are somewhat unbalanced, though.

Creativity: 5
Avalanche at end was very creative :) Heroes with new ablities would be fun

Map Design: 5
Good eyecandy, shops.

Story/Instructions: 4
I dont get the storyline >.> Talking to NPC's is a good idea. This is much better than those rpgs like doom lords or something where there is like no storyline you just follow some road randomly killing stuff.

Additional Comments: I dont really like competing for kills with my own team :( make enemies respawn fastt so i dont have to try not to kill stuff just cuz my teammates need leveling/ Btw, make leveling based on "Units killed cost" so you can use modify protounit to choose how much exp each enemy is worth :/

There is great replay value to Children of Memories and this helps the playability factor of it. Something that has an increasing influence in playability is wether people would be happy to replay the scenario because makes it nicer to play since it has more players. With 16 vastly different characters Children of memories is something you want to play again and does not feel repetitive due to different styles of play for different characters. You move smoothly through different areas of the map and this is helped by the eye candy. Sometimes you do wonder into levels of higher difficulty like my quest. It would help playability on easier levels if there was a warning when entering or stating a hard area or quest that lets you go back, since you can't easily reload a saved version of the map incase you die in multiplayer.

Balance: 4
The game is fairly well balanced. When players start to level up several of them start to get overpowered, the priest is a prime example of this with it's number of projectiles increasing. It seems you have put effort into empowering the unusual choices of characters like the priest. The ability to convert statues to help you is very nice and is a good way to reward better players that are skilled enough to keep them alive.

Creativity: 5
The creativity was brilliant because it is new. Re-spawning monsters was nice and this helped playability a lot. The free roaming system was a nice change from the basic AoM RPG. There are some nice puzzles in Children of Memories some of these I have seen before and others I have not.

Map Design: 5
The water was a nice way to break up different sections of the map and the eye candy was amazing. Different sections were broken up by water based upon the strength of the foes inside them. On the islands in between water there are still distinct sections with brilliantly vibrant eye candy. Different areas were broken up by a nice mix between their terrains.

Story/Instructions: 4
Instructions are adequate for a group of new people to play the game through. With that being said, in several places it is easy to go beyond the path and end up dying in small pockets in higher difficulty foes. A suggestion would be to add in a series of check points along the map showing an ideal route, this would require a lot of work though. An option to reject quests and start them later would be a very welcome improvement.

Additional Comments:
I think Children of Memories is a brilliant map that deserves more than 4.4 however I don't think it should have more 5's, if I could give 4.5's I would for Playability and Story/Instructions. That would make this rating a 4.6.

I agree with DeviousDragon99 "You just cant get rid of the birds in a team of no ranged players :(" But its perfectly made and it is in good shape.

Balance: 5
The balance is good but there are heroes that got much more attack and hp than the others, so when playing its like impossible to kill enemys with the weak one.

Creativity: 5
Don't got much to say. It's good

Map Design: 5
The map is big and the shops are in good places.

Story/Instructions: 4
I will rate 4 because, I don't really get the Story but rest is perfect!

Additional Comments: I think there should be "Monster Respawn" so some of the monsters can respawn after like 30 seconds or more/less..

Awesome playability with high replaying value, i think i just dont have to say anything more here.

Balance: 3
considering it is for multiplayer, and i played it alone (i edited mine to get 50% more exp from kills, if that counts towards making single player easier without being on the begginer level), the builder class was just amazingly weak, since they most likely spent a shitload of gold to get not so much reward from it, and god knows how much time i spent on the last part of the game with my archer, having to kill (spoiler alert) all those minotaurs just to get some crush damage so i could destroy that helepolis a bit faster (end of spoiler)
plus, if you dont mind, i will make some more changes here, so the classes will be more balanced for single player, but aint gonna change anything at all in the storyline.

Creativity: 4
Its very hard to make a completely new thing in age of mythology, but you definately used pretty well what we already had.

Map Design: 5
you are the eyecandy king, in my opinion, you can make realistic landscapes when trying to make realistic landscapes, it needs patience and ability, and you have both

Story/Instructions: 4
the instructions were as clear as water, but (spoiler alert) really? it was all a dream? i've seen many bad endings, and i might not be the best writter, and wont compare things, but this one in particular was like an atomic bomb exploding in the storyline.

Additional Comments:
i hope i didnt sound offensive, because i really like what you did here, and i even "study" it to help me improve my scenario editing and developing skills

sorry for grammar mistakes.

No problems. Well, except for Permadeath. You start with a lot of people and have not many left. Sometimes units are strong where you dont expect to loose much HP. Otherwise the Avalanche at the end is quite a killer.

Leveling one of 8 stats with Old Men Consumers is fantastic.

Balance: 4
I think Atalanta and Jason are too weak (in the version I played).

Creativity: 5
Dat Story! Though some quests are kinda silly but in a funny way. "If only these slave traders were dead..."

What I love about this map is how alive it feels. The creeps respawn after a while and can be cleared again for leveling. NPCs are moving around and even fighting each other, so when you have trouble with monsters the town guard can help you out. And quests from longer ago come back at you when you find what people were searching for. Freed Prisoners even go back to Town.

Map Design: 5
I shall still learn from what you did there! Like the Stomps guarding the little gardens in the city. Or the two flipped longhouses on the last island. Or the Road out of the Tremor Rumble. Or the Medusa Temple with the stairs. Or the Beach you can follow in the first area. Or the birds nests. Or the destroyed granary mine. Or just the big people.
Partly however it looks like you got a bit lazy, but it is a large map after all. Also like in the first area you enlarged some buildings, which drop back to small size when they get out of LOS. That does look not so good, if you have large buildings they should be important enough for a permanent Revealer to Player (active/converted to P1 as soon as the players get close).

Story/Instructions: 4
On some occasions I didn't follow the story too well, but mostly I could read it up. I might have missed some lines in the cinematics.
BUUUUUT it isn't clear what to get from Upgrades like Athletics, Accuracy or Engineering without testing out.

Additional Comments:
Woah, I just played for 2 and a half hours. o.x

This Sandbox RPG Scenario is like the Skyrim of AoM for up to 6 human coop players.

We had some noob version where everyone gets a free Setna to follow around and heal the hero, but played on medium difficulty.

We started with 4 players. All survived the first area and settled over to the second area. Only on the goat quest we missed out, one of us had accidentally killed it. I was standing next to the dead goat with my archer, but I was the red player so my clothes were red before, that wasn't goat blood I swear.

On the second area we lost two guys, our host in the mountains and jason was up there against a gladiator in the far east all alone. This guy later went Sparta on our Automaton army for a bit. But the goblins are nice unlike some other dudes and unlike some misleading signs suggest.

The Son of Osiris was kinda funny with the Kraken Bay freeing. The old mans Riddle (421?) was weird, but he did not want to be hit afterwards so we left him alone. Bandits attack you instead of paying of course. Also there is this hidden Bird Man Mountain, where the Bird Men live. And a mummy.

We of course found the Carcinos relic and used both Portals to our advantage. Sometimes teleportation is faster than a boat. But having 4 boats doesnt help you with resettling to the north.

The Medusa fight was great, her area is pretty helpful to her with some fire walls securing her from close combat for a while and trapping all the other people from running away from the arrows.

In the swamp some convicted prisoners of the swamp people convinced us to destroy their place of worship, kill all the swam people and ultimately release the prisoners, probably murderers and thieves. We went along, it was a great plan. But boy when they came back to the city that must've been a suprise, by that some black magic stuff had destroyed most of it.

I never bought a Behemoth Ride from the Swamp People(s eastern cousins?).

After we finally finished everything there was to do on the 2nd land we finally found the mountain key. I thought the host had it when he died and took it with him, but the mountain key was never touched (?) in the area where it belonged. Though if you dont take your (easy version) Setna immediately through the portal he may be left behind.

Noticing the king about the Demon from the Mountain Key Vulcano some Anubites spawned and killed the king. 114 damage Anubites are no joke. Of the Automaton army only 6 remained.

The Dryads are no joke either. 2 of them nearly killed me, I had to run, but luckily the light gate went up again.

After talking to a hungry Rhino we reached the last land with just 2 players. There my ally got killed quite quickly by an avalanche trap. Dont go up there, send something else. Or just sacrifice a player at that point. I dunno if restoration will help. And after the big dwarf revealed the truth of the land of the memories to me, I got dieded. No joke either, he didnt went for my Setna so i was just running away until I died. So I never woke the Sleeper.

As for Hero Balance, out of the 16 choosable heroes I believe Jason and Atalanta are kind of bad. Atalantas Damage upgrades by 1 or something, Hippolyta gets +3, Heracles and Polyphem are strong too I am told. Heracles I never saw, but Polyphem I tried for the starting area and his damage went up good leveling Strength (Huskarl).
The Theseus Automaton army is nice until it dies and Theseus remains a weak hero with some good summon spells.
The Pharao had also good summons but was on the brink of death all the time and died first by far. Pretty much in the beginning of the second area up in the mountains.
