Do you think that the default player colors quite suck? Are you sick and tired of the standard player colors?
I am.
This .zip file contains a .doc, a simple color chart with some dozens of color sample and the respective RGB code:
To be honest, I had created this utility for my own self, but later I decided to share because it might be useful to other players too. Obviously, you can use all the colors you want and not just the samples listed, but I was fed up of the coding all the times to choose a color, and so a I made a chart with a relatively large choice.
To understand how to use this utility to change your player's color, refer to ra5946's utility, for this is to be just an additional help.
One final note: the RGB codes of the colors are already formatted and ready to be directly pasted in the playercolors.xml file. You don't have to add spaces or anything, just:
Choose your color(s);
Select the code;
Paste the code in playercolors.xml (refer to the above link);
Enjoy!
UPDATE: You can also find an online webpage version of the chart here.
Thanks to:
ra5946 for his utility;
Agave, the GPL software I used with GNOME to pick up the colors;
You for ignoring my grammar mistakes xD |

Can anyone help me? Few days ago, I downloaded ra5946's utility. It's an xml file you have to edit using notepad. At first, it worked just right for me, but after playing some few random maps, it seems that the color malfunctioned--- the color of all players change to white! I'm having a hard time knowing what player owns the unit, so I have to use Friend of Foe colors, but I want to see assorted colors whenever I play. When this color malfunction occured, I deleted his file, but I still get the same white color for all civs. Can this utility fix this thing? Please help...
Thanks.
MESSAGE UPDATED (12/15/10): I have already fixed the problem; I just deleted an XMB file inside the data folder.[Edited on 12/15/10 @ 03:30 AM]

I'm trying to write a more in-depth guide that should be added to the file in the .zip; to fix your problem, you could: (1) delete your playercolors.XMB, backup your playercolor.xmL (.xml not .xmb), redownload ra's playercolor.xmL and use that one; or: (2) to understand which player has the white color, open your playercolors.xml and search for the one that has the values for color white (255 255 255). I hope it helped, let me know. |

Thanks for your effort to help me (I greatly appreciate it), but I have already managed to fix the problem by deleting the playercolors.XMB file. I guess no player owns the white color, and I think the reason why they all went white is simply the playercolor files malfunctioned. Anyways, what's important now is I fixed the thing. =) |

Actually, I think that the white color (255 255 255) is present in the playercolors.xml (and so xmb) if you installed nottud's editor; in fact, Nottud should have added that color to give a further option, so don't worry. It's just that your malfunction is strange D: I always suggest keeping a copy of the playercolors.xml, especially if you personalize it, just in case.. |

There is nothing a part from the .doc in the package, because it refers to http://aom.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=44[Edited on 05/25/11 @ 09:22 AM]
