Light Sleeper

The only way to stop Kemsyt’s rampaging army is to return the Sword to the Guardian.

Starting objective: Kill the guards watching over the Villagers mining gold. (2)

Difficulty levels:

  • Easy:
    • Kemsyt has less starting units
  • Hard:
    • Kemsyt has more starting units
    • Kemsyt has defensive Towers on the Citadel entrances
    • No Catapult in Sepa’s village
    • More Mummies on the path to Sepa’s village (4)
  • Titan:
    • Kemsyt has even more starting units

This scenario opens in the far north of the map. (1) In addition to your four heroes, you control six Chariot Archers, four Slingers and the Swordbearers. (Who, while they can’t attack are remarkably tough and immune to MU special attacks.)

Your immediate objective is to liberate the camp to the southwest. Proceed forward slowly and try to attract the attention of smaller groups of enemies, (on Hard and Titan, a group of Slingers will run out of the camp and attack you without your provocation) and make sure the enemies are attacking your heroes, who regenerate their damage. Keep your Chariots away from enemy Slingers. (Who do a large amount of bonus damage to them.) Once you have killed the guards, the villagers will convert to your control and you’ll be given a new objective.

New objective: Bring at least five Villagers safely to their Town Center. (5)

Since you start with ten villagers and you only need to bring five back, you can leave half of the villagers here if you want, and then have them begin gold mining when you reach Sepa’s village. (5) Head south. Grab the relic. (3) The canyon ahead is full of mummies, so leave your human units behind for now – the Mummy’s special attack will instantly turn any of them into a hostile minion! When your units are most of the way through the canyon, Kemsyt will invoke the Plague of Serpents god power – your heroes will make quick work of these, and villagers can kill them easily too, if need be. Continue heading south. (Hopefully the crocodiles at the river won’t present much of a challenge.) On the harder difficulties you ay trigger a group of Mummies to appear as your villagers come through the canyon, so keep your heroes around in case this happens.

Once five villagers reach Sepa’s Town Center, the village will convert to your control and you will be given a new objective.

New objective: Bring the Sword Bearers to the Guardian (6) before Kemsyt’s army reaches it.

You will soon be informed Kemsyt’s army is heading back to the city and you need to get to the Guardian before they arrive. Three villages (7) stand in the way of his army. Each will fall at regular intervals giving you an idea how much time you have left. Don’t worry, there’s no hurry – set about building up a strong army.

Have your villagers hunt before setting down to gather from the many farms you start with. There are Crowned Cranes near the riverbank to the north, and Gazelle to the east, near your temple. Keep up constant villager production and strengthen the gathering of wood, food and gold – you may want to put up more monuments if you wish to use MU’s. (Since you are playing Ra, your monuments are cheaper too.) Advance to the Classical Age as soon as possible. Once your hunting runs out, research the Plow and Husbandry upgrades, then set your villagers farming and invoke the Rain god power – this will give the food necessary to jump to the Heroic age as soon as possible. Train a Priest or two – they can not only heal your units, but empower resource gathering, increasing your economic efficiency.

Because you are Ra, you have tougher Chariots and Camelry, so once you are in the Heroic Age, build a Migdol and invest in those. You start with a Catapult (on Easy and Normal difficulties) but you may find things a bit easier with a Siege Tower or a few myth units thrown in. When you are ready, attack – the route to the Guardian is pretty easy to find, and is guarded by two walls that you’ll need to knock down and a Migdol stronghold that would be in your best interests to wipe out as well. Remember you don’t actually have to defeat Kemsyt’s forces, merely keep them distracted and open up the route to your swordbearers. Once both walls are down and it looks like no one will target your swordbearers, send them in.

The Guardian will awaken and be under your control.

New objective: Use the Guardian to destroy Kemsyt’s army.

Once you get to this stage, you’ve basically won, since the Guardian has twenty thousand HP, can take out all enemies in two hits maximum, and he can hit several enemies at once. (Overkill? Nah.) Position him to intercept the flood of Kemsyt’s Army that should be arriving at the city about now. Once he has killed the majority of Kemsyt’s army, you’ll be rewarded with victory. (If you don’t find yourself victorious, search down the path to the villages for any enemies who got lost on the way to the party.)
