Revelation

The heroes must destroy the gate ram before Gargarensis can break open the Underworld Gate!

Starting objective: Destroy the ram before it breaks down the gate. (6)

Difficulty levels:

  • Easy:
    • Gargarensis has less starting units
    • Gargarensis receives less reinforcements while the ram is under attack
  • Hard:
    • Gargerensis has more starting units
    • Gargarensis receives more reinforcements while the ram is under attack
  • Titan:
    • Gargarensis receives even more reinforcements while the ram is under attack

You start this mission near the Underworld Passage (1) with just Arkantos, Ajax and Chiron. At regular intervals throughout the mission though, reinforcements will arrive at the Underworld Passage.

Nearly all of the enemies you will face on this mission are myth units, so take full advantage of your heroes.

Follow the path south and to the east, using your heroes to make quick work of any myth units along the way. When you reach the open area at the bottom of the path, continue east to the boulder wall. (2) Attack the boulder wall to block off the path – which stops any of the reinforcements using this path. Travel a short distance north to gain control of a Nemean Lion. (3) Return to the main area and head north and look for the next boulder wall to the east. (4) Repeat the process with the previous one – once you knock it over, you’ll stop any future reinforcements from coming from this direction. Explore north of the second boulder wall to gain the support of three Medusae. (5)

Now head for the ram. (6) Use your heroes, your 3 Medusae and any Centaurs you have to defend your soldiers from the myth unit reinforcements called in from the north-east and south-west (7) to help defend the ram. Leave your human units constantly attacking the ram – they’re not much use against Gargarensis’ myth units.

As reinforcements get called in, new enemies are sometimes spawned on the path to the ram. If this occurs, send Chiron or your Medusae back to take out any myth units threatening the route before bring your reinforcements to the ram. The most dangerous of these will occur when the ram reaches 45% and 65% damage respectively – a Phoenix will be spawned to attack units on the way to the ram. Phoenixes do splash damage and can hit many of your human units at once. Your Medusae cannot turn Phoenixes (or other flying units) to stone, so use Chiron or the Bolt god power to dispatch them before they do much damage to your human units.

Use the Restoration during a lull in the fighting when your Medusae and Centaurs are injured. Stop your units from attacking the ram before casting it – Restoration heals only very slowly when the target units are fighting. Cast Bronze to keep your human units alive while you are under one of the tougher assaults from the Myth units pouring in from the northeast and southwest. (Keep your human units attacking the ram the whole time!) Gargarensis will attempt to repair the ram with villagers later in the mission, so you may want to save Lightning Storm for then so you can quickly wipe out the villagers, however any time where you come under attack by a large number of enemies, you can fire it off if you are unsure of your chances of survival.

When the ram finally reaches 0 HP, you’ll be rewarded with victory.
