I honestly have never found myself researching these but they seem worth the resources. I mean 20% faster training is pretty useful if you find yourself not making units fast enough. However it would seem cheaper to just build another barracks or what ever. Perhaps I'm wrong but it seem like an awful waste to have a technology in the game that no one researchs.
from an eggy point of view, at least levvy is worth it, 20% faster for training troops that already are lightning fast. Provided you can afford the resources you can very quickly overwhelm most opponents.
Levy and conscript can be worth researching if a game goes long. The cost is only food, which will often be easy to afford late game, and having faster barracks is always a good thing. You can also just make more buildings, but faster mil production is a bit handier. Of course, you most 1v1 games don't go long enough to make the techs worthwhile but evenly matched teams games often last into mythic, making the techs potentially useful.

I only use it in very long games... it's just too expensive for use early on.
water maps when i have an excess of food i get it.. and it makes such a huge difference. adding it to the 5-8 rax u have up by heroic.. umm OUCH

Deano, you've read the topic I made today right? Well, creating time is one of the items I want to put in the formula. So, when the formula is all up and running, It'll be very easy to calculate the cost-effectivity of that upgrade. Be patient.
In my experience no. Just build another longhouse, don't get levy longhouse. It's cheaper and also makes it harder for an enemy to take out your production.
I suppose it might be worthwhile in long games, but I find my average game time is less than 20 mins, 1v1.

I've only ever trained levy/conscript if the game has gone to late heroic/mythic because I find by this time in a game the focus switches to full on battles instead of raiding and skirmishes, thus troops need to be replaced asap.
