Ok, well its not really new, but it is pretty cool. If you change the name of some of your favorite songs to the names of the songs in the game, you can play your favorite songs in game. Go to MY COMPUTER and then your LOCAL C DRIVE, look under program files, and your game settings should be under MICROSOFT GAMES. you can go into AOM and change the name of your favorite song to match the original and replace it. i would highly reccomend storing the original songs in a seperate folder so they are not lost. NOTE: THE SONGS WILL ONLY WORK IF THEY ARE MP3 FILES!!! I have a pretty cool soundtrack for my games now, starting off with Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. if you have any questions or want a list of my soundtrack just email me. have fun!

Many people do it with taunts. You don't need to replace existing taunts, you just add mp3s to the taunts folder and give them names starting with a three digit number and then a space, e.g. 564 Under The Bridge.mp3

i like the music, for the pure fact that it was actually recorded with a realy orchestra, and not MIDI ( yea i am a huge music recording geek ) or synthesizers, some songs can be pretty lame though....but some of the fighting songs are great!

In AoE and AoK the music came off the disc as CD audio during the game. I'm pretty sure it was produced with synthesisers, then played through virtual instruments to be recorded as audio. Age of Empires also included the music as MIDI files, which you could have in place of the CD audio by adding a command line argument (something like "/midimusic"). In Age of Mythology all the sound is in MP3 format. If it was played by a real orchestra then that's great ... listening to it, it could well have been. But don't underestimate the power of virtual instruments.

Someone should make a music themed scenario. Ex. A level where all you have are hundreds of valkriyes with the musci Ride of the Valkriyes for the music.
