Topic Subject:Problem with "Just Enough Rope" Campaign

Has any one else experienced this?
At the beginning of the "Just Enough Rope" campaign, I can easily defeat the small force of Hippikons and Prodromos attacking Ajax and his men, but then nothing happens.
In the walkthrough, it says I will be given a new objective and Ajax and his troops will come under my control, but I must, somehow, be missing the exact action that triggers the new objective. After I kill the enemy, I'm just left to wander aimlessly, and Ajax and his men are still just allies, even after I go to his town to the southwest.
I'm still pretty much a newbie, so I won't be surprised to learn that I'm missing something. Thanks!

Try getting the real version of the game?

Not quite sure what is meant by this reply, but if you're asking if I am using a pirated version of the game, I most certainly am not.
But thanks for the vote of confidence.

Sorry, but "nearly" every time this happens is due to a pirate version.

No problem, Sulphent.
So is there a solution?

About 9 times out of 10 this problem occurs on pirated copies of the game. It's interesting for us to learn, though, that it can also occur on legitimate versions.
As far as I know there's nothing you can do to fix the problem; you'll just have to skip the scenario by typing the cheat CHANNEL SURFING in the chat (press Enter while playing to bring up the chat prompt).

Reinstalling aom is probably the only solution to this problem, many people have got but it's just a little glitch that happened when installing the game, if it doesn't fix afterreinstalling aom 1-2 times you should contact ES.

Wow. This is good to know.
I can reinstall without losing my saves, right? I don't plan on doing the first four pieces again.
Of course, I could always use the "channel surfing" cheat to start up on five if that's a problem.
Thanks.

Some campaign trigger dont operate right when on my game, which IS a legitimate version. However I have considered the possiblity that I might not have enough RAM, and will look into it.
Also, I thought of something... have you actually brought both of your heroes to his town?

I have 256 MB of Ram and I have brought both heroes and the rest of my army to his town.
When I have a chance to reinstall (if that fixes it), I assume just defeating the bad guys will bring Ajax and survivors under my control.

Whos says he has the real thing? Its more like 10 times out of 10 anyone who has this problem has a pirated version of the game. Even if I knew a solution, I wouldn't help you because I don't support people who don't pay for their games.
Edit: get the latest patch, you need the real game to use it i'm pretty sure, then tell us what happens.

Prankster, fortunately for me, your refusal to offer help is totally inconsequential, as many above have already done so.
Moreover, your powers of deduction may be in doubt. Once the crowd informed me that this problem is common for pirated versions, continued insistence that I have a genuine copy would only have decreased my chances of being directed toward a preferable pirate copy, or otherwise being offered a solution workable for the pirate copy you believe I am using.
In any event, I purchased my copy at Best Buy for $19.99 on sale. Do you also loathe those who don't pay full price? If so, feel free to continue to withhold knowledge which I've already been given multiple times. Thanks.

You think I actually believe you own the game? I wanna see a picture of your CD or something.

Ummmmmmmm actually guys, the problem with the warez version of AOM is that you can't attack anyone on this mission.
jeffnebraska says he has defeated the Trojans, and isn't getting a new objective. The problem commonly reported is that people can't attack the Trojans at all. Not that they don't get a new objective.
So no, I don't think it's right to assume he's got a warez version. It sounds like a bug with the objective triggers.
TheShædøwDåwn If you're like me, then it's possible you're a clone generated from my stolen DNA. I suggest you turn yourself in for destruction immediately.

Success! Reinstalling took care of it.
This time, when I came into the fight, Ajax shouted something like "need some help over here," or something to that effect, which he had never done before. Then, after the Trojans were vanquished, I got the new objective and a map path to his town opened up. His troops started heading toward the town and I followed along. When my guys got there, got another new objective and his troops became mine!
Thanks to those who didn't write me off.

Jeffnebraska, it appears you were a victim of bad luck, as every week or so a "Just Enough Rope" campaign problem crops up on the forums from a newbie forummer. (I know you're not a noob here but neways...)
Don't worry, Sulphent and prankster are solid dudes who wouldn't normally direct insult like that...
