if you are curious about my setting:
intel 930 dual core and intel 955 chip set.
you dont have to be this high end but you should got a intel 478 2.8 which is already a 2 year old setting.
dude a 930 is not a high end PC (210$ processor)
when you play a game, the game only uses one of teh PC's cores, its not like it splits the application in half to use both cores (that will come in the future though). However it does mean that messanger can run on one core and AOM TT on the other, but then you could also shut all other applications...makin there be no benefit to a dual core for a game this old.
Oh and btw, a single core of the 930 (3.0ghz)runs similarly to the p4 630 (3.0ghz), except it runs cooler and more efficiently due to its 65nm structure (this is good so it wont give u 3rd degree burns like the prescotts..)
however, the 930 is a great budget dual core, and it does tend to tear through multitasking apps, makin it a popular processor, just not for gaming, due to AMD's lower clock speeds and more efficient cycles
just dont make the ignorant statement to call a 930 high end when you speak of gaming
somethin i would consider high end for gaming (or just in general) as far as processors go would be any athlon 64 x2's that are in the 4000's or intel EE or xeon processors, and even maybe a high GHz Pentium D
and as others have stated, this game is old, so saying that you need a semi high end system i sjust bogus
you see, when games are made, they are made to stresss out the current technolgy that we have...
i just got my comp late 05, so i can play everythin on high, but someone who got their system when AOM came out may only play on medium, and that is fine too
as an example, say you bought a game such as F.E.A.R.
well your computer may not even be able to play it because you may have onboard graphics (although u do have an express chipset which= PCI-express 16x slot. The point is though, that when a game comes out, only the high end systems can run it on full power
my comp cant run f.e.a.r. smoothly on full quality graphcis, however it runs quite fine on medium
there is no need to have a computer that will play AOM TT on all high for it to run smoothly, even though that is ideal (for obvious reasons)
so i really dont think u need to be tellin ppl to get a new computer or not play a game that they payed for
im sorry if that sounded like i was yellin, but seriuosly even though you may have meant that in a good way, the topic and your idea was just too debatable
