There are sounds for the griffon on the alpha cds... maybe they're a campaign only unit because in the alpha there are also sounds for the trojan gate and we now that's in.

We cut the griffon because we would have had to invest a lot of R&D into a flying unit that had a ground attack. Having a griffon rider did seem to get too close to fantasy. I guess he could have spat or dropped rocks or something.

A griffion rider seems to much like WAR3, and no im not saying war3 came up with the griffon rider Im just saying it seams like ES wants to set it self appart from to much fantisy like elements and that would defenatly do that.

That was the sphinx and Oepidus... Yes, the Greeks had a sphinx too. (THe one in Harry Potter is a greek sphinx)
