My win/loss ratio sucks! I played 4-6 games last night and got trashed in every one. That's with difficulty set to moderate. That's on both RMS maps that come with the demo. I try and try but just cant win. The damn AI opponent is in my face relentlessly, and I just cant' get on the offensive. But if I choose easy difficulty, I win over and over and over, and that's no challenge.
Now, it's no fun losing over and over, and it's no fun winning because the AI lays down. It simply makes any game a frustration generator, not an entertaining experience.
I don't have this problem in AoK:Conquerors. I usually get a decent, long lasting, and satisfying game on the Hard difficulty setting, though occasionally I get whooped when both my opponents have an agressive disposition. But even if I lose under those circumstances, I find it entertaining to watch the teamed opponents march through my town. I worked hard, and so did they, and at least I have something for the AI to beat up on!
I've come to the conclusion that all these posts complaining about walls and buildings being too fragile are right! Walls go down to swords in an instant it seems! Towers are damn near useless! And with the population limit so low, you can't garrison units as a defensive measure, and keep an offensive task force at the same time.
Add to this that Heros come from the same factory as villies (limiting you to one or the other when you need both badly), and you end up with what I think is a flawed game design.
So, I ain't gonna buy AoM until Ensemble addresses these issues. I don't like paying for something twice to get it to work, especially when it's for entertainment purposes or other non-essentials. I guess I'm gonna have to wait on this one.
Damn! I was liking it for a while! Now I don't know what game to look at, and I don't have money to waste because I'm on a fixed income. THIS SUCKS!
