Poseidon Vs Odin Oasis game. I think this was a decently played game. The only thing that I would have changed if I was to play this game over was use more MUs and made sure that that villie that I thought that I had sent to the corner of the map to make a market did go to the corner of the map.
Rating: 4
A perfect demonstration of a high skill land game between Poseidon and Odin.
Additional Comments:
Both players did extremely well. There were some strategic choices on Odin's part that I found to be somewhat unbalanced. For example, after Poseidon used the god power Bronze, Odin decided to duke it out instead of retreating. This decision compounded with the fact that the Greek units were already more upgraded and naturally stronger, the entire Norse army was annihilated. I think that single move was what cost him the game eventually, but at the time it wasn't entirely clear if it was a bad move since the Norse army still outnumbered the Greek and it was Odin's big final push if won could destroy the Greek entirely, while retreating would certainly give up his first Hill Fort along with some other assets. The Odin player also didn't upgrade enough. Although it was a tough call among the resource choices, I feel he should've at least got copper shield instead of stuck with no armory upgrade at all for almost the entire game. The Greek player on the other hand got the upper hand with upgrades simply because of the inherent nature of his enemy -- Norse has no archer and therefore very few piercing attack damage. He merely had to upgrade weapon and hack armor to Bronze level and didn't have to bother with shield techs at all until much later. Overall I think the nature of Greek vs Norse battle has something to do with the ultimate outcome of the game, especially when both players have done as well as they did in this game.
