Ensemble Studios has a habit of producing top-notch editors that are both powerful and intuitive. Upon purchasing AoM, I was eager to see if ES had lived up to their mighty reputation. I sat down and fooled around with the editor for a couple hours, then decided to dive headfirst into my first love in scenario designing:
Map Design and Eye Candy.
This scenario is the result of that experimenting. How did it turn out? Well, I'll let you decide that for yourself. The purpose of this scenario is to highlight just a slim fraction of the infinite possibilities for map design and eye candy that are presented with the AoM editor. I had absolutely no prior experience with the editor, so everything in this scenario was something that I learned as I was going.
This scenario is meant to be played via normal means. I suppose you could just open it up in the editor and have a look, but I would strongly urge you not to do so until you have played it through, as some of the map design and eye candy functions are achieved via basic triggers.
As I said, the purpose of this quick scenario is to highlight some of the amazing potential for lush, vibrant scenery made possible by the AoM editor. If a complete newbie to the AoM editor can make this in just a few hours, it's almost mind-bending to think of what the experts will be coming up with very soon... |

This is a must develop for people looking to see the various possibilties in AoM editor regarding map-design.
Also very helpful for newbies and even other designers as to what in AoM scenario is the detail of map design expected.
A map that could get a perfect 5.0 for map design that is !! |

Uhhhhh, well you lose no matter what, I think. Anyways, I dont want to make ratings perfect.
Balance: 5
Well, you have an anubite the enemy has a lightning bolt, nothing special.
Creativity: 5
Very, very, nice quite interesting with all those triggers.
Map Design: 5
Brilliant, I really liked the first trigger with the arrows flying. But there is only one thing... how can it rain when its snowing?
Story/Instructions: 5
Clear and Basic.
Additional Comments:
This is a very nice presentation of triggers, very eye pleasing to watch but the waterfall, snow, rain, sparkly lights, and lights from when Osiris is resurected was a bit demanding on my computer... it lagged a bit.[Edited on 03/18/03 @ 12:58 AM]

this is something that can't be reviewd for playability, balance, etc.
Its not a scn or anything part of any campaign.
Its just a map to showcase the eye-candy possble in AoM |

Really beautifull map, too bad there isn't much of a scenario in it. You definitly got to make more of these. Keep up the good work![Edited on 12/07/02 @ 03:08 PM]

It's not supposed to be a real fighting scenerio, it's just a showcase.
Balance: 5
You die no matter what, but again, it's just a showcase.
Creativity: 5
Awesome mixture of effects! Blew my mind! I have no idea how you did all that, very VERY cool.
Map Design: 5
Outstanding.
Story/Instructions: 5
Just a showcase.
Additional Comments:
Excellent job, it was so much fun to see all the different things the editor is capable of. I can't wait to see some more of your work.

It's always nice to see someone doing something useful with the editor instead of making bland arena-based, mega resource, huge troop count slugfests. The gardens and the weather effects are certainly the highlight of this map. I look forward to seeing some of the great maps that you and some of the other scenario veterans will produce. |

This is a great view of the level of play to be expected in good/great campaigns. Impressive stuff for this early in the game. Good download. |
