The year is 473 B.C...
The Greek Empire has been at relative peace for many decades...
But now, a new evil has arisen, one that could destroy the entire world...
There is hope, however, hidden within an outcast...
This campaign revolves around Theseus, a Greek Hero with extraordinary powers, and his companions, as they try to stop the Dark Mage Kemsyt from destroying not only Greece, but all of the world.
Features:
-Control Theseus, his mentor Drakkar, his brother Bellerophon, his other companions and entire armies as you fight your way through to the end.
-Enjoy beautiful scenary and plenty of eye-candy as you travel on your quest.
-Leap into combat against the Black Horn pirates, your main enemy, and the many myth units under their command.
-Wonderful cutscenes help tell the story of this amazing tale.
-Face frightening bosses in many different Boss Battles throughout the campaign.
-A custom mod allows for more interesting enemies and Heroes, creating much more interesting gameplay.
The mod(found here: http://aom.heavengames.com/downloads/viewinfo.php?id=1533) is needed to play this campaign. There is also a Readme included with both downloads.
This is my newest(and first) campaign submitted for AoM, so any criticizm or helpful ideas are welcome. If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please contact me at tyrew_johnitt@hotmail.com. |

Before going any further into this, I need to explain my rating here.
This is one of the very first AoM campaigns submitted,.
Therefore it's got some very understandable " archaic " technical... glitches, which shouldn't be lowering a rating, compared to the amazing quality of this 21 levels! campaign.
BUT! a very serious warning about installing the required mods, since those are like the " old fashion " way, meaning from the " overwritting already existing units " kind.
Proceed to a serious back-up of your own files before overwritting them.
I believe you could also play without the mods, only I suppose there is one in it which changes the values of some units, making the first scenarii of the campaign almost impossible to win without it or... cheating a bit.
As I'm not sure myself I succeeded following the installation instructions, I will not rate this beautiful work on a " technical " point of view. Apparently the author, Admiral Tyler II, knows AoM a way more than I do.
Now...
Playability: 5
( Read the above first! :-))
I finally only installed the textures and icons, replace the missing strength ( I suppose? ) by... cheating in some scenarii.
Beside, among these 21!!! levels... I found only one, and a very innocent one, bug!
Anyone better than this?
Certainly not me.
Balance: 5
Difficult to evaluate the exact balance of that campaign because of the installation problems. Therefore I'm going to refer to the only scenarii which seems more " classical ". It's tough, sometimes very hard even, but... winable. Cheat as much as you feel, it's not what really matters here anyway.
Creativity: 5
The storyline of this campaign is everything. Tense, strong, real dark most of the time, such a constant and impeccable rythm that keeps you out of breath until the end.
You are going to live with those guys for the game length, since it's such a perfect cast. And because the director took such a real tender care of his actors...
Loads of tricks, for those who love it. I do.
Everything goes along, to fit so well, with such a story.
And goes beyond... creativity.
So, if you don't mind:
Beauty: 5
Map Design: 5
I won't even speak about eye-candies here, my most hated stuff. It's just beyond that.
Simply beautiful, real, so real, amazingly poetical. I just entered a book, a dream, and truly live that story all along the way.
Stunning.
What else? So much... I can't think anymore of everything that thrilled me out... Ah, before I forget, not that important :-) but.........
Cinematics are masterpieces.
Try for yourself.
Story/Instructions: 5
Let me be honnest here: I don't even remember anything that part! It's just that well done.
Plain and subtle.
Now that I have to think about it, I'm even more impressed by this guy who succeeded making me believe anything he said... or write. I have no idea why I didn't get lost... 'cause I was! All the time.
Gone. For 24 hours.
Additional Comments: 5!
This is the first time I played AoM... without thinking of AoM.
The year was 2003...
Again, try it.
Again, for yourself.
'worthed the... technical effort.
'hope it'll work for you as it did for me.
Or better even.
This is the best AoM vanilla campaign.

First, I would like to say that I didn't know about the mod until I had already played it, and then the mod didn't work for me, so my review may be a little different than what it should be.
Playability: 3
It was fun overall, but due to the lack of a mod, some scenarios were completely impossible with the units you had. Still fun though. One slight glitch though, I dunno if you already fixed it - I think it's the scenario when Drakkar kills the thing, the cinematic doesn't end.
Balance: 3
Pretty good.
Creativity: 4
It was an original idea, I wouldn't have thought of it. The way the scenarios worked, it felt like it was a real story, and you were the narrator.
Map Design: 5
It was very very nice, with good eyecandy. Not as much as other maps, but that's good. It didn't look overdone, but it looked medium well. That's the type of thing I like. The cinematics were good too.
Story/Instructions: 4
The story was, once again, very original, and it flowed smoothly, as far as I could tell. The instructions were well done, and even though I didn't have the mod, I could easily tell what was going on.

Playability: 3
The theseus level was pretty hard (birth of a hero) and took me like 10 tries to make it haha. ended up spending ages there cuz of having to use the lure technique.
Balance: 4
balanced gameplay nothing to be said here :)
Creativity: 5
creative stuff. good job
Map Design: 5
love the maps good eye candy and terrains
Story/Instructions: 5
good story and the instructions were really easy to follow
Additional Comments:
Maybe next time make the hero in the level such as Birth of a Hero, a regenerating one. (Arkantos, Chiron, etc.) that way theres a better chance of making it to the end without 20 billion tries :P good job on the campaign loved it over all although it was hard
